In the first place, the name Sam George appears to me to be a slave name, a name usually given by slave masters to Africans.

This insulting statement made by one Mr. Sam George, apparently a Ghanaian with a European name, is totally unacceptable and must be condemned by all peace-loving Ghanaians, especially Ashantis.

I wish to repeat exactly what this Sam George said. He said, it was childish for an 80-year-old man (Dr. Duffuor) to be engaged in such desperate politicking, because he wants to be elected Flagbearer.

In other words: He, Mr. Sam George is discriminating against Mr. Duffuor because of his age.

In most civilised countries especially Germany old age is considered a blessing and as such discrimination against older people is considered as a crime.

Does Sam George want to indicate that President Biden of the United States, who is also 80 years old, is engaging in something that is, because of his age, forbidden? Where is it written, that old age makes one incapable of making the right decisions in life? Maybe Sam George as well as ex-President Mahama, have the answer. (Mahama made a similar statement in Chattham House in London and I was shocked, because he did not realise that in England and in many other European countries it is a crime to say that and publicly discriminate against people of old age.)

My experience tells me something different, because the Founder of his Party, the NDC, Mr. Rawlings took power in Ghana as a junior officer at the age of 32. We all know exactly what he did at that age. He killed and killed and killed his own people. One would have thought that Rawlings would have followed the following methods of governance:

  • Coherent policy in education,
  • coherent foreign policy,
  • coherent defense policy,
  • coherent economic policy,
  • coherent policy of job creation and so on and so forth.

Instead, he chose to murder his own citizens for crimes he considered to be punishable by death.

Now, Mr. Sam George, you describe Mr. Kwabena Duffuor as engaging in desperate politicking.

Let's compare the 80-year-old man to the founder of your party. Which one has engaged in desperate politicking?

My answer to this probably non-Ashanti man is, he must have probably lost his sense of fairness and justice. I find it extremely difficult to understand, how an African politician can use such degrading words to describe those of us who have been blessed by God to have a long life.

Mr. Sam George must be ashamed of himself.
For years we black people have been fighting for freedom and justice and I think you have forgotten that in most civilised countries discrimination against older people is a crime (except probably in Accra and in Prampam?).

You are not doing politics to discriminate against peaceful citizens who happen to have been blessed with old age.

I know Dr. Duffuor personally and I know how Mrs. Rawlings the wife of the Founder of the NDC and the late Founder himself appreciate him and his services to the nation. President Rawlings and myself and Mrs. Rawlings have had the gracious opportunity of talking to the former Finance Minister Dr. Duffuor about the problems facing our country. My impression is that this is a fine, intelligent person, who can even at the age of 90 and above deliver to Ghana what Ghana needs. He to my mind is fit to be the future leader of the NDC, simply because he is competent, irrespective of his age.

Now, Dear Mr. Sam George, please lend me your ears:

There will never be any 2024 elections in Ghana without a prior constitutional reform in this country.

The people of my ethnic group, the Ashantis, will not allow any more resources of that nation to be stolen and used for those areas where the people are known to be lazy.

There shall be Ashanti Cocoa Marketing Board, there will be Ashanti Diamond Cooperation, we shall have Gold Marketing Board in Ashanti, there will be Timber Marketing Board in Ashanti, we shall have Bauxite Marketing Board in Ashanti and we shall make sure that job-creation in Ashanti will be our main pre-occupation. Rural areas will be developed and for your information, we shall refuse immigration from the North to the South, in other words, we shall have a devolution in Ghana.

God Bless our Motherland.
