The Deputy Minister of Youth and Employment, Mrs. Frema Osei Opare, has warned District Co-ordinators of the National Youth Employment Pro-gramme (NYEP) against politici-sation of the initiative.

She warned that the ministry would deal with any coordinator who was reported to use political favour in the selection of applicants for employment under the NYEP.

The Minister gave the warning at Somanya, when she was answering a question at the Jubilee People’s Assembly.

She said the programme was meant to address the unemployment in the country, especially among the youth and therefore it cut across party lines.

Mrs. Opare stressed that unemployment was not only a problem for supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), but a national issue and wondered how the problem would be solved if the programme involved only members of the NPP.

She called on the youth to take the opportunity and apply for jobs of their choice since the programme had many modules designed to meet all levels of people in terms of qualification.

The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Dr. Francis Osafo-Mensah, said the administrators of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was working out modalities for holders of the card to attend hospitals across the country.

He told the people that, some of the problems with the implementation of the scheme were administrative problems that posed no threat to the survival of the scheme and encouraged people to register.

Dr Osafo-Mensah, who was the former Eastern Regional Minister, said the NHIS council was doing its best in normalising the hiccups for a smooth running of the scheme.
