Citizens of the Ga State will on Saturday pay their last respect to the late Ga King, Nii Amugi II at a grand funeral ceremony at the palace in Accra.

He died on July 13, 2005.

The funeral, the first for a Ga Mantse in sixty years will be attended by a cross section of society including the President, J. A. Kufuor, Ministers of State and members of the Diplomatic Corps.

The late Nii Amugi II who was born on June 8, 1940, was enstooled in 1965 and reigned for 39 years.

Ahead of the celebrations however, the Ga Traditional Council placed a ban on all trading and commercial activities within the Ga State on Saturday, January 27, 2007 to enable it to give the late Ga Mantse a fitting burial.

It has also placed a ban on funerals and the transportation of dead bodies within the Ga State with effect from January 22 — 28, 2007, while mortuaries were not to release dead bodies during the period, nor were funerals allowed during the period.
