Taxi driver fined failing to stop at police check point

Kofi Tei, a taxi driver has been fined 600,000 cedis by the Twifo Praso District Magistrate's Court for failing to stop at a police check point.

Tei who pleaded guilty would serve six months imprisonment in default.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector George Okai told the court presided over by Seth Bio Nyamekye, that on January 23 police on road patrols stopped the accused who was driving a Kia Pride taxi cab at No 1 village a suburb of Twifo Praso, but he refused and sped off.

He said Tei was chased, arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
