Is General Mosquito a Rawlings Avatar? – Part 2

Feature Article Is General Mosquito a Rawlings Avatar? – Part 2
MAR 30, 2023 LISTEN

It goes without saying that the Chairman-General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) – my profound apologies to renowned broadcast journalist Mr. Kwami Sefa Kayi, the original Chairman-General – Mr. Johnson Asiedu-Nketia was able to literally ride roughshod over the rights and responsibilities of the Haruna Iddrisu Gang of the recently deposed parliamentary leadership of the party because the latter direct representatives of the people have been selfishly and myopically behaving like the metaphorical peacock, even as The Mosquito rudely and crudely, albeit systematically, went about usurping and breaking laid-down party rules or mischievously bending them to suit his private and personal interests as well as the interests of his staunch and closest allies and fellow kleptocrats and robber-barons.

Aside from the recent capricious and military-style railroading of the Haruna Iddrisu Gang, and the Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings’ judicial arm-twisting and the effective but flagrant cannibalizing of the Klottey-Korle parliamentary seat, we also have the downright comical case of Mr. George Boateng, the Oyarefa, Greater-Accra Region, former local party organizer, who was literally run out of the party like a domestic ruminant quadruped, or a Dead Goat – no apologies to Okogufuo Yagbonwura Kwame Gonja, by the way – so that the twice-defeated Dynastic Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress from Bole-Bamboi, in the Akufo-Addo-created Savannah Region, could literally ride roughshod over any formidable and potential challengers from within the party, so as to undemocratically ensure that a decidedly politically unattractive and grossly incompetent President Dumsor could have a free nonconsecutive return ride to Jubilee House.

The good news here, of course, was the no-nonsense demonstration by bona fide Ghanaian voters that they could not be taken for granted by a callous and unconscionably calculating gang of robber-barons who routinely and cavalierly took home double the already fat salaries of Article 71 civil and public servants, even while criminally and scandalously denying Ghanaian youths a Fee-Free Senior High School Education, the barest minimum of intellectual and vocational preparation for a decent existence in the future of our increasingly highly technological global villatic society and economy, on the equally criminally grounds that a Fee-Free Senior High School Education was, somehow, much too dear or prohibitively expensive to be feasibly underwritten or paid for by the Ghanaian taxpayer.

And, by the way, Ghanaian voters have also not forgotten the eye-popping $72 million (USD) of the lifetime savings of civil and public service pensioners and retirees that went missing at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) in the runup to the 2016 General Election. We are quite certain that The Mosquito did not have the latter SSNIT Mega-Heist deeply etched within the ridges of the frontal lobe of his cranial cream-puff, when he recently decided to summarily remove the Haruna Iddrisu Gang from their leadership positions of the Parliamentary Minority Caucus. And just why so? Well, simply because Mr. Asiedu-Nketia is himself not the least bit kosher. He may be a much smarter thief than the rest of the National Democratic Congress’ leadership pack of hoodlums but, nonetheless, a lip-glossed pig just like the rest of the horrid horde of economic sponges. Now, who has soon forgotten the Bui Dam creaming of Ghanaian taxpayers by the then General-Secretary of the then-ruling National Democratic Congress with the brazen and criminal complicity of Mr. Jabesh Amissah-Arthur, Executive-Director of the Bui Dam Authority, and the younger brother of the late former Vice-President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur?

For those of our readers who may have so soon forgotten or were much too young to remember, shortly after then Interim-President John “Brazil Embraer Airplane Purchase Scamming” Dramani Mahama acceded to the Presidency of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana, General Mosquito would establish a brick-making factory and lobby to have himself appointed to the Board-of-Directors of the Bui Dam Authority (BDA). Shortly thereafter, The Mosquito would sign a sweetheart contract with the BDA to supply the latter with cement blocks for the completion of the final phase of the construction of the President John “Gentle Giant” Agyekum-Kufuor-initiated and Chinese government-financed Bui Dam Project. Mr. Asiedu-Nketia’s company would be only one of several firms that had been contracted to supply cement blocks to the BDA. But, of course, that is not the entire story. Rather, this story of Ali Baba’s blind and brutal creaming of the Ghanaian taxpayer also involved an obviously unethical case of a conflict-of-interest. Which was that, The Mosquito would be paid twice the amount of money for the same quantity of cement blocks delivered to the BDA as those that were being supplied to the Authority by the other rival or competing firms.

Now, once this backdoor scheme to fleece the Ghanaian taxpayer had been skillfully exposed by the media, in one of the latter’s few bright moments, a morally “innocent” General Mosquito would nonchalantly claim that the cement block supplied to the Bui Dam Authority by his company was of a much superior quality than those supplied the BDA by his competitors and rivals. Now, regarding why, as a member of the Board-of-Directors of the Bui Dam Authority and the Bui Dam Project, The Mosquito would so callously and unconscionably consent to having his rivals and competitors supply the Bui Dam Authority with cement blocks of an inferior quality, at least by his own lights or imagination, The Mosquito would only shrug his shoulders and insist and archly smile and, against all common sense and patriotism, claim with a smirk that it really did not matter, after all, whatever quality of cement blocks his company produced and supplied to the Bui Dam Authority, as long as The Mosquito Cement factory was getting handsomely paid and at a much higher rate than its competitors and rivals. All that mattered, in essence, was the fact that his own company was producing and delivering better quality cement blocks to the BDA.

In sum, this is the pathologically reprobate character who would have Ghanaian voters return his party to power and the hopelessly payola-addicted Candidate John “Akonfem-Kanazoe Ouagadougou” Dramani Mahama back to Jubilee House, so that these political piranhas and cannibals could continue to blindly and brutally feast on the lifeblood of the Ghanaian taxpayer like the Anopheles Mosquito. Fat Chance, We Say!!!
