NDC Rawlings liked me so much; I want to bring NDC back to power to honour him – Dr. Duffuor

Flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has opened up on his relationship with late President Jerry John Rawlings.

During an engagement with delegates in the Central Tongu Constituency of the Volta region, Dr. Duffuor said he was a very good friend of Rawlings.

According to the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the NDC must work together to win the 2024 general election to honour the late J.J Rawlings.

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor further disclosed that Rawlings warned him about the current economic mess Ghana finds itself in.

“It is true the late President was my friend, he liked me so much. I was in London when he (Rawlings) brought me home to join him build Ghana and since then the friendship was so deep that every Monday morning we were eating together and quarrelling as to which direction the country’s development should go.

“He kept warning me when I declined to lead the party but everything he told me are happening today. Today, our economy is in a mess, he warned me. So I always remember what my friend told me several times and now we have to rescue the country,” Dr. Kwabena Duffuor shared.

The former Bank of Ghana Government is busily touring the country to engage delegates to convince them to vote for him in the primaries of the opposition NDC.

He is keen on beating ex-President John Dramani Mahama to become the new flagbearer of the party.
