Mornah Is Pathetically Well Behind the Times

Feature Article Mornah Is Pathetically Well Behind the Times
MAR 30, 2023 LISTEN

Gone are the days when communications technology was still on the frontier, as it were, with the sort of “Global Village” propounded and theorized by immortalized Canadian media scholar Marshall McLuhan still a distant mirage on the horizon or in the future to be chased and grabbed into reality. But, perhaps, what is even far more important to point out to the veritable and notorious surrogate of the movers-and-shakers of the country’s main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former National Chairman of the late Dr. Hilla “Babini” Limman-founded People’s National Convention (PNC), is the fact that as a graduate of Howard University, located in the US capital of Washington, DC, and one of the flagship members of the Great Alliance of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Vice-President Kamala Harris almost definitely has an intellectual and cultural perspective on things Ghanaian and Continental African that is apt to take Mr. Bernard Mornah several lifetimes to catch up with or to fully grasp and appreciate (See “Where Is Your Swag? Bernard Mornah Slams Bawumia for Wearing Suit to Welcome Kamala Harris” Modernghana.com 3/28/23).

It is also rather absurd for the party-hopping and ideologically vacillating leftist propagandist and the much-maligned and generally disdained John Dramani Mahama shill, at least thoroughly disdained by the Danquah-Busia-Dombo camp of neoliberal market-oriented proponents and adherents, to suppose that the official visit by the first African-American Vice-President of the United States of America was superficially and infantilely about the stereotypically crude “showcasing” of Ghanaian couture in the comical and burlesque manner that is traditionally associated with neocolonialist display of Ghanaian and African wear like museum pieces. Well, this is rather ironic, to be certain, because the ardent and inexorable Bawumia critic belongs to an ideological camp that, Once-Upon-a-Time, self-resentfully colluded and collaborated with the neocolonialists and “expert” neo-imperialists of the Washington, DC-based International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), much better known as The World Bank, to summarily and effectively destroy the Kwame Nkrumah-established Ghana Industrial Holdings Corporation (GIHOC), comprised of some 120-plus factories and industrial plants.

So, really, other than just wanting to have his peevish voice heard on our local media airwaves, precisely what kind of Ghanaian industries was Mr. Mornah looking forward to seeing Vice-President Bawumia “showcase” to Vice-President Harris and, in effect, the United States of America this very late stage in the development of US-Ghana diplomatic relations? Even more significant and worthwhile to highlight here is the fact that by the time that the second-most-powerful American politician, at least officially and theoretically speaking, departs the proverbial shores of Ghana for the other equally significant African countries that Mrs. Emhoff and her husband, Douglass, have been prescheduled to officially visit or tour on the world’s second-largest continent but arguably the oldest civilization, the couple would have been gifted with more Ghanaian- and African-made cloths and other decorative and wearable fabrics and artefacts than Mr. Mornah would have laid his eyes and/or hands on in the nearly one-half century of his sorry existence as an ideological and a political gigolo.

It is equally absurd for the man who has been widely alleged to be on the payroll of former President John “European Airbus Payola” Dramani Mahama to suppose for even a nanosecond that he could lecture Alhaji Bawumia on how best to market Ghana to the United States of America. Indeed, if he has any worthwhile strategy on how to lucratively market Ghanaian-made products to the Americans or the West, as a whole, the dishonorably ousted Chairman of the People’s National Convention would be much and far better off passing his decidedly stale and jaded ideas on to the designers or crafters of the national development agenda-bereft and administratively grossly incompetent Dynastic Presidential Candidate of the country’s main opposition National Democratic Congress, that is, if, indeed Okogufuo Kwame Gonja has any.

The self-infatuated popinjay can also rest assured that Vice-President Bawumia did not miss any genuine opportunity to “showcase” Ghanaian-made fashionwear and the promotion of the very same local industries that “revolutionary” red-beret-wearing ideologues like himself unwisely and treacherously colluded and collaborated with some of our Western-European economic detractors to completely wipe off our national development map or literally raze to the ground. Bernard Mornah may also do himself and his ilk of national development saboteurs great instructive good by comparing the national development records of the Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party and the Mahama-led democratically ousted and Dumsor-inflected rag-tag regime of the National Democratic Congress and soberly draw the necessary and the most appropriate conclusions.

You see, Americans are not the least bit fooled by agitprop pretenders and political scam-artists like Mr. Mornah, whom they envisage to be absolutely no better than make-believe professional clowns and buffoons and clinically and ideologically confused busybody exhibitionists, by and large. We have no use for such masqueraders and shameless opportunists.
