The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Kwanwoma in the Ashanti Region, and the Deputy Minister of Defence, Hon. Kofi Amankwah-Manu has declared his support for Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's presidential bid.

Hon. Amankwah-Manu has also vowed to ensure Dr. Bawumia becomes the NPP flag bearer for the 2024 elections and subsequently the President.

“If I'll lose my parliamentary seat because of Dr. Bawumia to win [NPP flag bearer reace]. I am ever ready to give out 100% support. I will sacrifice my seat and position for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP to win the 2024 elections because it's not about me. It's about NPP and Ghana,” the Deputy Minister vows.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Fox FM in an interview hosted by Sir John, the MP explained, "since the inception of this Republican constitution, no Vice President except Dr. Bawumia has been visible working effectively.

“…but that is not to say those contesting to become our flag bearer are incapable. They're all capable of leading NPP.”

Some NPP MPs accompanied the Vice President to celebrate the Akwasidae festival at Mahyia Palace.

Many, including political pundits, describe it as a tacit endorsement of Bawumia's bid to lead NPP to the next general elections against other candidates such Alan Kyerematen, Dr. Owusu Akoto, and others.
