The Ministry of Information and National Orientation has cautioned Internet users , against the opening of some hostile e-mails alleging the capture or hanging of Osama Bin Laden circulating on the Internet.

“Information and Communication Technology (ICT) security experts warn against opening such e-mails to protect target computers from crashing. Opening any such e-mails immediately unleashes a virus which can totally damage the hard drive of your computer,” a statement signed by the sector Minister, Mr Kwamena Bartels, said.

It said the e-mails were reported to have been sent as attachments, supposedly with pictures of Osama Bin Laden being hanged, adding that the e-mails were headed “Invitation” and the attachments were called “Bin Laden Hanged” or “Bin Laden Captured”.

The statement alerted the public, especially Internet users, to be wary of opening any attachment or document sent to them through the Internet with the heading “Invitation”.
