When money brings a nation down

When money brings a nation down
13.03.2023 LISTEN

King Ludwig XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette of France were beheaded in the causes of the French revolution. The nation had enough money but most of it was in one hand. Zar Nicolas II and his family were shot dead as money was in the country enough but most of it was in the wrong hands. Arab Kings became Billionaires overnight using a great chunk to please their people from the fruits of their national resources income that belongs in its totality to the entire nation equally.

Money comes and money goes. Even the world's richest men from their graves had to witness over generations that their fortunes eventually disappeared into the fantasy moments of history.

For Royals, Presidents, or private individuals, money is a comfortable cushion to dream away peacefully at night while at the same time the much-needed tool to trigger a change in certain sectors besides being a protection shield. Money is no wisdom in itself but only wisdom can last for generations beyond any challenges.

Arab leaders in contrast to their democratic-elected African counterparts being rooted in the long-standing history of their old nations decided to invest the historic once-in-a-lifetime chance of oil revenues in future projects to sustain their power and please their people. While against Arab tradition more women behind the scenes administer the kingdom's reforms to promote value changes and admit the royal elite had made their fortune on the back pain of their citizen's first steps are in an early infant stage.

The test of time will emerge from the traditions of history when values overtake the power of money and more and more futuristic and innovative projects will no longer please the better-off citizenship. The race is on.

Like Arab leaders, African leaders put national assets into their own private pockets for rainy days or as a protective shield against unwanted opposition. While Arab Royals undertake their decisions backed by the idea their kingdoms can only last and be safeguarded when thinking for generations to come African leaders think for eight years or a bit more in office until be overthrown at the polling station or by a military coup.

While Arab Royals do not have to justify to their people how much national assets they divert into their money purse African leaders have to be more creative to cover up their wrong actions and when uncovered find means to protect their real identity.

When the money of a nation is not seen as a nation's development tool but as a public-private mix to decide on with the power of the constitutional rights given to the African President the generation protection shield of values to be cherished and honored will get thinner and thinner.

History has proven money is never an everlasting protection shield for nations while values are seen in the ten commandments still standing strong before us. The wealth Arab countries enjoy today is no guarantee for tomorrow when values are not protected and transformed into modern times.

Democratically elected African leaders and their societies will discover their societies will be down on their knees long before the same will happen to Arab nations.
