The Western Regional Minister, Mr. Anthony E. Amoah has said that the various programmes offered at the tertiary level were relevant to the nation's development agenda.

He said the various programmes are meant to develop the human resource capabilities of the youth and make them efficient and skillful to fit into the job market.

Mr. Amoah said these at the opening of the annual mini congress of the association of polytechnic HND accountancy students at Takoradi on Saturday.

It was on the theme "the HND accounting programme and national development".

Mr. Amoah said tertiary students, especially accountants should be prepared to serve in the rural areas and use their expertise to assist the rural community banks, micro finance and credit schemes in their revenue generation strategies.

The Minister said without the planning of accountants, several organizations would have collapsed, and urged them to assist small and medium scale enterprises to mobilize the requisite funds for their expansion through the adoption of best business practices.

Mr. Henry Agbaya, National President of the association said the placement of HND graduates on the job market needed a rapid review.
