For all those who wish the best for our beloved country, Ghana, hope was reborn on December 21, 2006, with the election of Professor John Evans Atta Mills as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate for the December 2008 general elections. The election at the Congress is the very first of the many tasks that have to be accomplished to ensure success and victory in December 2008. While December 2008 may seem a long time away, in organizational terms, it is just a breath away.
One of the first tasks is to get over the euphoria of the successful organization of the December 2006 Congress and the insomnia it has generated in the New Patriotic Party. Indeed, it is the insomnia generated in the NPP that should embolden us and make us determined and committed. At this early stage of the campaign, we are witnessing manifestations of personal attacks on Professor Mills and more generally on the NDC. The campaign organization of Professor Mills, however, will not descend into the gutter. Suffice it to say that we shall deal with the issues that negatively impact Ghanaians and fight from a higher moral ground. The cooperation and camaraderie demonstrated by our former flag-bearership contestants, Messrs Eddie Annan, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah and Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu undergird our campaign strategy of respect for and decency towards all.
Therefore, in response to the exigencies of the campaign for 2008, friends, family, and supporters of the vision of Professor Mills have developed a website, http://attamills2008.com/ to articulate both his ideas and those of the NDC and disseminate information to all the good people of Ghana and elsewhere. Professor Mills appreciates the goodwill of all those who intend to, or have set up websites to promote him and the NDC. However, he wants to make it known that http://attamills2008.com/ is his personally authorized website. Prof Mills does not intend to stifle initiative or kill creativity in his campaign. Instead, he prefers a single and authoritative source of campaign information.
In accepting Dr. Nkrumah's dictum that, 'organization decides everything' we are acknowledging too that complacency subverts organization. The NDC has never been more united, the objective conditions on the ground have never been more auspicious and the people have never been more in a hurry to redeem themselves. A dilapidated edifice will not fall by its own force; it has to be pushed. Let us all rise up to the challenge of giving the people of Ghana a new dawn, a new hope. To this end, we of the NORTH AMERICA COMMITTEE TO ELECT PROF. MILLS IN 2008, welcome all Ghanaians irrespective of political affiliation to join us in this campaign.
Should you need any information about the campaign and donations, feel free to visit Professor Mills' personally authorized website: http://attamills2008.com/
