Ghana@66: Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose

Feature Article Ghana66: Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose
MAR 7, 2023 LISTEN

Ghana, the proverbial united broomsticks, a collective strength with one purpose to fight and win.

At sixty-six (66), a united multi-ethnic people maintain our strength for one purpose.

An obsession to see Mother Ghana succeed.
Her maiden name was Gold Coast.
Then dressed with the best of clothing and jewelry.

The priced Kente and golden ornaments.
She seduced suitors from across the world.
They came to taste her betters.
They took her kindness for her weakness.
She was exploited, pillaged and plundered.
Rescued and restored to sanity by indigenous men of valour.

The true patriots who sacrificed their intellect, strength, and blood. Represented at the war front by the legendary Big Six -

JB Danquah, Arko Adjei, Edward Akuffo Addo, Obetsebi Lamptey, William Ofori Atta and Kwame Nkrumah the Show Boy.

A home bred suitor who had the maiden Ghana at heart. Took her to bed and produced offsprings that will give glory to Mother Ghana as the Star of Africa and the envy of the world.

Funtumfunafu and Denkyefunafu, the two-headed beast with one stomach who for the individualistic taste on the tongue, forgetting the final reservoir of the food being the stomach, inveigled the psyche of some operatives of newly rescued mother Ghana who has seen many pains already.

They too took their pound of flesh.
Now at Sixty-Six (66), six years after retirement, Grandmother Ghana seems stunt.

Her potentials apparently does not match her achievements.

Despondency and hopelessness are the songs her children and grandchildren sing.

A sense of despair blunts the collective strength for purpose now.

To make Ghana great again as dreamt of by the forebears can be championed by the third generation patriots.

The youth and aged alike of today should Unite our Strengths for one common Purpose.

Let us build on the foundations left for us.
The priceless foundations of peace and tranquility, still viable in a volatile subregion is a rare gem others yearn for.

As long as there is life, there is hope.
Let's work hard and be patriotic.
Ghana must realise her dreams.
As dying embers of hope were rekindled by a show of culture and tradition by Ghanaians in the Volta Region today, 6th March 2023, Ghana will rise and shine to the glory of God.

Happy Independence Day to Ghana, @66.
