By Godfrey K. Nyanney, Essikado

ONE hundred and five workers of John Bitar Company Limited, a timber firm at Essikado, near Sekondi, have been honoured for their dedicated service.
They have served the company for periods between 10 and 30 years.
Mr Osei Tutu Agyemang who has served for 30 years, was presented with three packets of roofing sheets, 50 bags of cement, some lumber and a cash of ¢10 million.
Speaking at the function, Nana Kobina Nketiah IV, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, commended the management of the company for recognising the hardwork of the employees and urged the company to sustain the award day to enable the workers to give of their best.
Mrs Tina Houssan, Human Resource Manager of the company, commended the award winners for their dedication and hardwork which had gone a long way to sustain the company in the face of the collapsing of the timber industry.
She said the operation of the company would be computerised and urged the workers to brace themselves up for the new challenges the computerisation system would bring.
Mr Agyemang, on behalf of the workers, thanked the management of the company for instituting the workers Awards Day and hoped it would not be a nine-day wonder.
He advised the workers to reciprocate the kind gesture of the management by working harder.
