Golden Sticks of the Ghana Commercial Bank opened a five-point gap at the summit of the Amateur Areeba Hockey League with a 2-0 win over 'under achievers" Marine Sticks of the Ghana Armed Forces in their third week match played at the Theodosa Okoh Hockey Pitch last Saturday.

Michael Narty opened the scores in the 17th minute from a free goal and it was doubled by young national team player, Elikem Akaba, 10 minutes after recess, also from a free goal.

Second on the league table, Trustees of SSNIT, drew 0-0 with Exchequers of the Central Bank to take their points build-up to four.

Financiers of the NDK Financial Services maintained their lead in the seniors league albeit on goal difference after a 3-1 win over Citizens.

The win takes NDK to six points, same as Multistix who were ruthless against Veterans on the day. Dede Mainoo scored twice as Multistix trounced their Veterans counterparts 6-1.

A new team, All Stars, made up of players from teams not competing in the league was disappointed as its scheduled match against Mariners was cancelled.

Organisers said they were still scrutinising their registration forms before they could be allowed to participate.
