FEB 6, 2023 LISTEN

Catherine Ablema Afeku, a former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture has tipped former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen as the best candidate to lead the NPP in the 2024 general elections.

Mrs. Ablema Afeku, who is one of Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s campaign spokespersons, said the time has come for Alan to lead the party.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based NEAT FM’s morning show, "Ghana Montie," the former minister described the three-time NPP flagbearer aspirant as a dedicated member and the only person who will be easily accepted by Ghanaian electorates.

"Ghanaians already know him (Alan Kyeremanteng); he has served for years. NPP is a traditional party, and Alan has been there from the era of Adu Boahen, Kufuor, and now President Akufo-Addo.

"The formula has not changed. This is his time. We need a candidate that is marketable and can canvass almost two million votes for the party," she noted.

According to the Evalue Gwira lawmaker, if the NPP is determined to maintain power, then they should look no further.

"If we really want to make history by "breaking the 8', then we need a candidate like Alan who is a unifier. If we want power, Alan is the surest bet," she said.

Meanwhile, the aspiring NPP flagbearer is currently touring the country to sell his policies to the people and convince party delegates to vote for him.

He will be facing stiff opposition from Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Dr. Akoto Owusu Afriyie, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, Mr. Joe Ghartey, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Mr. Francis Addai Nimo, and others in the ruling party's upcoming internal primaries.
