Poor Societies Are Rich

Poor Societies Are Rich
01.02.2023 LISTEN

"We have reached a level people just no longer want to work or take things laid back, for granted and not fighting for their future," said the young man this morning when I took my bank statements.

Germany after WWII and dictatorship was not used to democracy and was still under the supervision of the former allies until it got its independence in 1990, much later than any former colony in Africa was forced into the ideology of Western nations.

Germany a divided country with no significant natural resources was helped by the Marshal Plan, a loan scheme Germany had to pay back and ended up doing so a few years back (unlike financial aid given to Africa which does not need to be paid back to the donors), a scheme which primarily helped to boost the USA economy.

Blue-colored workers dreamt of Mercedes Benz cars and a house in green surroundings. They worked hard, overtime, and ruined their health in coal mines and steel works. The Wirtschaftswunder was created and admired even by Israel. Besides the boost of the economy Germany gradually liberated itself from the Allies of the last war to become the Primus inter pares to the European Union, the richest European nation and number four in the world.

Germany helped to collapse the former Soviet Union and liberated oppressed Eastern Europe to set them free. It plaid a vital role in putting Russia into the right place in history. Internally as systems and working conditions improved the attitude of the second and third-generation Germans after WWII changed politically and economically. Working hours were reduced while income increased step by step. The unemployment rate went down asking for foreign qualified workers to fill vacancies. Compared to the wartime generation unemployed citizens got financially covered by social security systems. The trend became more clear and is obvious that hard work or risk-taking to become self-employed is no longer on the mind of the many rather enjoying the hard worked for the fruits of generations passed and gone.

African countries on the other hand are blessed with natural resources in abundance, especially Ghana. Elected African leaders since independence have to protect the interest of their people even where and when necessary stand against the interference of the white man and fight for the glory of their nations. Voters have the given mandate to vote for the right leaders and see behind fake election campaign promises.

Hungry and angry African stomachs have suffered at the hands of many black African leaders for generations. To use this momentum and turn around the fate of African nations is when if not now. German "Truemmerfrauen", widows with small children and husbands lost in the WWII war with no roof over their heads but empty stomachs to fill cleaned stones of bombarded houses to create a future for themselves and find food to eat in the light NGOs like today in numbers were hard to find. With hard work, focus, and dedication they build modern-day Germany while vision, honesty, truth, commitment to good citizenship, and teamwork were always their companions. What stood in the way to overcome the past is what they pushed and pushed out of the way.

We are all best advised to copy from other nations what they have achieved and seen as champions and mix it with the national strength to overcome the champion and be a champion itself. Complaints and busy mouth are never a successful strategy to achieve greatness but wisdom, focus, visions, inventions, hard work, honesty, and truth in an environment set by ALL voters to choose the right leaders that create the right effective institutions to let everyone around the world see that in poverty is richness and that richness can see the light of the day when pushed for it, cherished and embraced.

The poor man of today is possibly the rich man of tomorrow. Citizens might choose.
