The Zugraana of Kusaug Traditional Area, Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II donated items to the Burkinabes who fled terrorist attacks to some communities in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region.
The items donated include 104 bags of rice, 4 bags of maize and used clothes to the Bawku West District Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for onward distribution to the asylum seekers who are occupying houses of some community members, schools and churches.
The overlord explained that his gesture was to complement the efforts of NADMO and the Bawku West District Assembly.
A speech read on his behalf by Naba Thomas Abilla said he sympathises with the refugees and called on them to feel comfortable in his kingdom.
Zugraana Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II called on residents along the border to report any suspicious characters to the security agencies to prevent infiltration of terrorists from neighbouring Burkina Faso.
He thanked the communities that hosted the asylum seekers for their hospitality.
Pusiga Naba, Naba Tambiusibalug who presented the items on behalf of the Bawku Naba appealed to the refugees to comport themselves in accordance with the laws of the land.
He also appealed to the local community members to show more compassion to the Burkinabes.
