Their Eyes Become ‘Red’ When They See Money

Feature Article Their Eyes Become Red When They See Money
JAN 18, 2023 LISTEN

The quack finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, and the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo, are both obsessed with money to the point that they will do anything or take all measures to obtain it, regardless of how it may impact other people. In reality, a government must create jobs to raise income and support the economy through taxation, however, since the NPP has failed, they have turned aggressive on the life savings of even the most impoverished people in Ghana.

Politicians and government employees who prioritize their own needs over those of the poor might lead to the improper utilization of resources. In Ghana, corruption has existed in every government, but the NPP and the NDC have evolved in distinct ways, the NDC leads with projects. The decline of Ghana can be ascribed to the lack of accountability and punishment as well as the involvement of many authorities in illegal activities such as widespread corruption and illegal mining.

Akufo Addo and Ken Ofori-Atta like money and corruption, but since they are unable to generate revenue by creating jobs, they actively seek out every opportunity to steal from the poor.

In addition to the Bank of Ghana, the private sector banks are very important to the real economy and financial system. They serve as a facilitator between all economic sectors and other financial intermediaries and institutions, and some of them offer the daily payment system that the majority of us rely on. Therefore, it makes no sense for any responsible government to decide to stop a bank from running. What is disturbing is that more money was used to collapse the banks than to save them.

That was the start of Ghana's issues because an economy that has around seven banks closed down cannot operate normally. This government engaged in much too much theft, money laundering, fraud, and corruption, and as a result, the nation's health and educational institutions and other infrastructure were negatively impacted. Although the implementation of the free education program got off to a good start, the NPP's widespread corruption is to blame for its difficulties.

The media would not report that illegal mining by politicians, including the president, and corruption at the ports, also including the president, discouraged investments in Ghana. However, businesspeople or entrepreneurs who take these issues seriously won't take the risk of investing in a nation where crimes are committed without consequence. These are a few of the economic issues, but the NPP wants Ghanaians to recognize that COVID and the Russia-Ukraine war are to blame.

In any serious country that wants money desperately, like Akufo Addo and his relative, Ken Ofori-Atta, if they can’t build new factories, then expanding existing factories or renovating inoperable factories, like those abandoned during the Nkrumah era, should be a priority but this administration, even though it has borrowed more than any other government in Ghana's political history, failed to do that.

The selfish, greedy, and aggressive money-loving family instead increased taxes, notably the controversial E-Levy, despite their promises to reduce taxation because they accused the previous administration had imposed too many taxes. The government in question never generates jobs; instead, it is always looking for new ways to steal from the less fortunate. To hasten implementation, the president even took a sick man in an ambulance to parliament, disregarding the fact that the majority of Ghanaians opposed the E-Levy.

Akufo Addo’s actions caused the people involved in mobile money transactions to experience financial withdrawal, which caused the financial industry to collapse. If the NPP government claims that the E-implementation was effective today, then we need to know why they are in financial trouble and want help from the IMF. The zealous pursuit of wealth by this specific government has destroyed a lot of things, including the nation's enterprises.

They're at it again, and this time they want to meddle with pensioners' funds and other people's assets, turning this government into one that is untrustworthy. This government has never demonstrated its sincerity by keeping its promises to the populace since it began its quest for power. I'm delighted that banks and the affected people have rebelled against them. This is essential since the money-loving family doesn't care if the remaining banks collapse.
