President Mahama will renovate all major old markets in Ghana

The economic importance of our indigenous markets as well as the crucial role played by our women in these markets can never be underestimated.

Besides, taxes, tolls and levies collected at markets serve as a major source of internally generated revenue to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

There is, therefore, the need to upgrade the infrastructure in these markets in order to generate more revenue for the development of MMDAs to improve income and reduce poverty levels in the country.

President Mahama has noted that a good number of markets in Ghana are very old and prone to fire outbreaks which always result in traders losing their wares and hard earned capital.

For that reason, he has promised to renovate all major markets in the country if he is elected into office again as president of the Republic.

It is obvious that the grassroots of the NDC are hungry for power in 2024 judging from the peaceful and unanimous manner they elected their National Executives at their National Delegates Congress not too long ago.

They are the kingmakers and so I am making a special appeal for them to present H.E. John Dramani Mahama as an unopposed presidential candidate for 2024. That will be the first major step to Victory 2024.

I expect the 275 constituencies to send a formal request to their new national executives on this anytime soon.
