Columbus Ohio to host Black History Festival 2023

Following the maiden edition of the Black History Festival which was held in Washington DC, USA in 2022, the Bureau For International Development, Exchanges and Commerce (BIDEC), organizers of the annual festival have announced the dates for the second edition.

According to the organizers, the second edition of BHF will be held in Columbus Ohio, USA from 15th to 18th February 2023.

Speaking at the planning meeting on 24th November, 2022 at the Gold Coast Restaurant in Accra, the Coordinator of the Black History Festival, Mr. Stephen Selasie Asuo reiterated the vision of BHF, stating that; "the Black History Festival is a special initiative dedicated to the celebration of the strong ties between Governments of the United States of America and the African Union member states over the years. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of the exchange programs between the two bilateral partners."

He further stated that it is a unique chance for stakeholders to have a common platform to commemorate the heritage, arts, culture, trade, leadership and innovation of Africa in the history of the USA. He aded that BHF is aimed at further strengthening existing ties, building bridges, and aligning interests.

The Black History Festival USA 2023 is being organized with support from the African Union Mission to the United States, the Office of the President of Ghana (Diaspora Affairs) and the Office of the Mayor and Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

Participants at the meeting were experts with various backgrounds drawn from the BIDEC Secretariat, the media, event organizers, marketing, and commercial executives amongst others to make the event a success.
