Girl’s Appeal Exposes Father

An appeal a 10-year-old girl made to a neighbour for financial assistance to enable her to attend hospital has led to the arrest of her father who allegedly defiled her.
The girl had been sexually abused by her father, for the past five months and she was suffering abdominal pains which forced her to consult the neighbour. Her father had warned her not to tell anyone and if she she did, she will die.

But in October, she mustered courage and contacted a neighbour, to assist her with financial assistance to enable her to attend hospital, as she could no longer bear the pains.

When her father was arrested it was found out that he sacked his wife to enable him to have the chance to have an affair with his daughter.

The man, Awule was said to have picked up a quarrel with his wife in May, this year, and after that ordered her to pack out of the house.

He was charged with three counts of incest, indecent assault and defilement when he was arraigned before the Fiapre Circuit Court presided over by Justice John Owusu Gyamfi, on October 16.

He pleaded not guilty to all the three counts and was remanded into prison custody for two weeks. On his second appearance the court refused him bail and he will appear again on November 29 for sentence.

According to the prosecution, Awule admitted in his caution statement of having had an affair with his daughter on several occasions.
