H.E. DR. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei hosted a Town Hall Meeting for the Ghanaian Community in the Washington Metro area at the Chancery of the Embassy on Friday 17th November 2006. It afforded a unique opportunity for a constructive dialogue on the challenges confronting our dear country, and a consideration of possible ways of skewing the challenges to inure to our positive benefit.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Bawuah-Edusei noted that the government's prudent management of the economy in tandem with its respect for democratic principles has endeared the country to the international community, as a result of which the government has and continues to receive support for its accelerated development agenda. He urged the diasporan community to take advantage of the varied opportunities offered by AGOA and the MCA and the attractive investment climate invest in the country.

He disclosed that the Embassy will be playing a coordinating role regarding the year long programme announced by the government to mark the 50th independence anniversary. The Washington Mission, in consultation with the Ghanaian community and other groups, has also outlined a ten day programme to mark the occasion. Activities to be organized during the period include seminar/workshop, multi-cultural show, and trade and investment promotion. A full programme will be available in due course.
