The National Democratic Congress says it is not worried about the resignations of some of its ranking members from their positions in parliament.

So far, three of such ranking members, Mahama Ayariga who was on the Legal and Constitutional Committee, Dr. Kwame Ampofo formerly on the Energy Committee and Twumasi Ampofo, Government Assurances have all resigned their positions on the various committees.

Their decision, according to the trio, is to enable them effectively support the candidature of former Vice President, John Evans Atta Mills' bid for the NDC's presidential mandate for Elections 2008.
They have openly declared their support for him.

The party has outlawed its ranking members in parliament as well as other office holders from openly declaring their support for any of the party's presidential aspirants and enjoins all in such positions to resign their posts prior to any open declaration.

Speaking to Joy News, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the members have only resigned as ranking members but not from the party.

According to Asiedu Nketia, the current regulation is one taken by the National Executive Commission but said it will later be reviewed.
