NOV 24, 2022 LISTEN

Anas Aremeyaw Anas heightened the suspense of Ghanaians with a teaser on the morning of Monday, 14th of November 2022, when he mentioned Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's name in his Galamsey Economy expose.

Ghanaians could no longer wait to watch his overrated expose. Many people, especially the political opponents of the Vice President, wished he had been implicated. I experienced the feelings of one of such people in my office where a young lady happily told me that Veep's name had been mentioned in the expose.

This lady was the person who first drew my attention to the teaser on the official Facebook wall of the "entrapment" journalist. Before I watched the teaser and read the article, "Our Minister and the Cash," I took time to listen to this lady who had jumped into conclusion that Dr Bawumia could be corrupt.

Guided by my own biases, I made it clear to her that the Veep could not be implicated. My analogy was simple. I rationalised with her to understand that it would be wrong for people to declare our news editor corrupt on the basis that one of his subordinates has said he would take an amount of money to publish a story.

The truth, however, is that many people thought like this lady. Before I could access the said teaser to watch, I was confronted by hundreds of Facebook posts that had hanged Dr Bawumia on the cross. Most of these posts came from political activists of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Well, the wishes of these people have become the phantasmagoria of their own fantasies. The details of the Galamsey Economy expose have rather presented Dr Bawumia as a man of integrity. In fact, it is the best testimony to the Veep's integrity.

What would have informed my conclusion? Read on to unravel!

Dr Charles Adu Boahen, who was caught on tape telling the supposed Dubai investors that the Veep would accept $200,000.00 as appearance fee is not a friend to the Vice President. Besides, they don't work in the same office so he couldn’t have known how Dr Bawumia's office is run.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas knew this. This explains why he called the Special Adviser to the Vice President, Dr Gideon Boako, to entrap him to implicate Dr Bawumia. However, he failed because the claims of Dr Adu Boahen were false. Dr Bawumia does not accept appearance fees from investors before granting them audience and Dr Boako knows better because he works with the Veep.

To seal the integrity of the clean Bawumia, Dr Boako who did not know about what had transpired between the Tiger Eye PI group and Dr Adu Boahen, also revealed that his boss had not contracted anybody to raise funds to mitigate their 2020 election campaign expenses.

The contradictory positions of Dr Charles Adu Boahen and that of the Veep's closest person, Dr Gideon Boako, say one thing about the Vice President. He is a man of integrity.

Attempts by the Tiger Eye PI group to muddy the hard-won reputation of the Vice President has failed completely.

Only God knows why Anas Aremeyaw Anas decided to bring the Veep on his knees. Whatever be the reason, Dr Bawumia and his supporters care less.

What is important, however, is that the Galamsey Economy has exposed the Vice President as a man of integrity that Ghanaians can trust.
