THE people of Fian in the Nadowli District were horrified when a resident run amok and clubbed three people to death.

The man, Charles Yelbayuoro, who escaped after the incident was arrested by his brother, Vincent Yelbayuoro. Family sources said they suspected him of being insane as he had been behaving abnormally.

The deceased were named as Yadayilia, 30 and Batadeba Dapile, 14, both females and Nibaboro Dapilla, a seven year old boy.

The bodies have been deposited at the Wa Regional Hospital for autopsy while the suspect, has been remanded in Prison custody by a Circuit Court here to allow thorough investigations into the case.

Briefing the Spectator on the incident, Police Detective Inspector Samuel Amidu, said on October 10, the Bussie police received a report that three people had been clubbed to death by an unknown person in a bush near Fian, a farming community in the Nadowli District.

He said the police proceeded to Fian where they met the chief of the area, Naa Bambue Banpai, who led them to the scene of the crime which was about four miles away from the town.

According to Detective Inspector Amidu, the three bodies which were found were retrieved by the police and deposited at the Wa Hospital mortuary for autopsy while the police mounted a search for the perpetrators of the crime.

He said on October 16, Vincent Yelbayuoro, a staff of the Department of Social Welfare in the Jirapa-La, Bussie District and a brother of the suspect brought him to the police as the one believed to have murdered the three.
