Re: Stop Interfering In The Upcoming Upper West Regional Executive Elections Of The Ndc
20.11.2022 LISTEN

I read the above-mentioned article authored by one Mr Awudu Isahak who says he belongs to a group known as ‘Friends of Democracy’, an article written to suggest that the Right Honorable Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has no hand in the just ended Upper West Regional chairmanship race.

Mr Isahak sought to create the impression that Mr Kevin Taylor was in the ‘process, cast aspersions on the person of the Right Honorable Alban Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament of Ghana’. One would ask what business has Mr Awudu Isahak to write about the activities of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper West Region coming as he does as someone known by all and sundry that he is never and has never been a member of the NDC in the region?

One would have allowed such a thing to pass by without any comment but for the disingenuous nature of the presentation it needs to expose the hidden double standards buried beneath the article written only to secure political advantage by a total stranger within the fold of the NDC.

Mr Awudu Isahak writes to say that: ‘The attention of the Friends of Democracy-Ghana has been drawn to a viral video in which Mr. Kevin Taylor is seen endorsing one of the candidates for the position of Upper West Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress and, in the process, cast aspersions on the person of the Rt. Hon Alban Bagbin , Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana’.

To set the record straight ‘Friends of Democracy is a pseudo political organization without any foundation. It is the creation of the Right Honorable Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin who uses it as a shield to defend his narrow political interests. This fake organization came into being when the issue of the Speaker’s personal body guard cropped up and it is spear headed by Mr Awudu Isahak who is never a member of the NDC.

WHO IS AWUDU ISAHAK?

Awudu Isahak is the current National Communication Officer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) and a teacher who is not in the classroom. He was the immediate past Youth Organizer of the same party. Mr Awudu Isahak has practically nothing to do with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and he is never a card bearing member of the NDC.He is out not to protect the interest of the PNC but to champion the political cause of the Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament.

He was ‘trained’ by Mr Bernard Mornah, the then National Chairman of the PNC.Realising that Bernard Mornah had parliamentary ambitions, the Speaker of Parliament ‘poached’ Mr Awudu Isahak to work against Mr Bernard Mornah his former boss and till date he is using him to champion his cause in the Upper West Region and the country as a whole.

So it is very common to find Mr Awudu Isahak defending to the hilt the Speaker within the social media circles. He is commonly found on facebook defending the indefensible causes of the Speaker in all his dealings.

Mr Awudu Isahak has lately succeeded in capturing the attention of the Speaker and he was ‘properly rewarded’ with a very juicy contract job of renovating the Wa Sports Stadium. Mr Awudu Isahak never owned one single pick axe, a shovel or even a hammer as we all know him, but the Speaker of Parliament awarded him the juicy contract of renovating the Wa Sports stadium at an undisclosed contract sum. This is often done to spite those within the fold of the NDC who are close associates of the Speaker.

The procurement law allows sole sourcing when it comes o the awards of contracts but ask me whether Mr Awudu Isahak has any contract license to start with, if even Mr Awudu were to be

awarded this contract renovation of the Wa Sports Stadium from a private pocket where and when was the contract awarded and what was the contract sum most especially when the Wa Sports Stadium is a publicly run place with varied interests? If this is not corruption tell me what it is

And clearly one can see that the Speaker has bought off the conscience of the National Communication Officer of the PNC,and instead of championing the cause of his mother party the PNC, he is busy poking his nose into things where he has no business and he goes to say that: ‘In the video, Mr. Kevin Taylor sought to ask the Right Hon Speaker of Parliament not to interfere in the upcoming regional executive elections in the Upper West Region without offering any reasonable grounds, basis, or proof for his (Kevin Taylor) insinuation of interference’.

One is not never surprised with such pronouncements of the National Communication Officer of the PNC.How would he mind his business when the Speaker has given him a sigh of relief by side stepping his own party foot soldiers, men/women in the NDC to single handedly without following procurement procedures, and awarded Mr Awudu Isahak the renovation of the Wa Sports stadium, a spurious contractor, who never ever owned a chisel let alone any starting capital to execute any project.

And so he can afford to remind the NDC family that: ‘It is important to stress that the Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin remains a staunch member and pillar of the NDC not only in the Upper West Region but across the country by virtue of what he has achieved in his political journey as a Member of Parliament, a Minister of State, and currently as the Speaker of the 8th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana’.

Is it any surprise that Mf Awudu Isahak will be busy doing things which has no any connection with his political leanings at a time when the PNC leadership is in deep crisis, their National Communication Officer does not see it as a problem but rather minding his business where he has none and can afford to go and talk about the Speaker whose party his party the PNC since 1992 has been working to beat in nationally competitive elections.

One can say without any contradiction that the National Communication Officer of the PNC should put his head down in shame because his party the PNC was recently in the news for the wrong reason when the party is hit by internal wrangling as the party plans to roll out its reorganization programme towards the 2024 election. As a National Communication Officer of the PNC what is he doing to restructure the PNC? He is rather busy deceiving the people and his own party men by fighting the wrong cause of the Speaker of Parliament because he has been ‘rewarded’ with a contract to renovate the Wa Sports Stadium and so he can afford to promote the Speaker when he said: ‘By the stature and heights that he has achieved, it is not in doubt that the NDC stands to gain a great deal from the valuable experiences of the statesmanship of the Rt. Honorable Speaker of Parliament. It is, therefore, not in the interest of the Rt. Honorable Speaker, to interfere in the democratic expressions of the people of Ghana, not least in the Upper West Region, as alleged by Mr. Kevin Taylor’.

Whose cause is the PNC National Communication Officer fighting? The PNC or the NDC of which he is not a member? The Bible says that ‘by their fruits we shall know them’ and this is typical of the National Communication Officer of the PNC Mr Awudu Isahak.

A national officer of the PNC who will not mind his own business but would always be involved with an element of over indulgence, poking his nose where he has no business. One would not be wrong to say that Mr Awudu Isahak as a ‘true son of the soil of the Upper West’, he is well aware of the political machinations and acts of tokenism the Speaker is engaged in, but for his self seeking attitude and the ‘benefits’ he derives from the Speaker he cannot speak the truth.

When has it become necessary for the National Communication Officer of the PNC to be speaking for the Speaker of Parliament? Mr Awudu Isahak can never say that the Speaker of Parliament was not interfering in the just ended regional elections of the NDC and he was aware that the Speaker was doing just that to punish the incumbent chairman because in time past the incumbent supported the former president John Dramani Mahama.

I am taking my time to react to this article written by Mr Awudu Isahak in order to expose the hidden hypocrisy on some known faces in the Upper West Region who are well aware of the activities of the Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament and yet because of their selfish desires they would rather that the people would suffer.

Public service involves service to the people and not meant to run them down when power is finally grabbed. Mr Awudu Isahak my advice is this: Once you are fortunate to have benefited from the Speaker please enjoy your booty and allow the likes of Kevin Taylor who is far away from the Upper West Region and yet has more than enough information to run around.

You challenged Kevin Taylor saying that: ‘Is it not baffling and ironic for Mr. Kevin Taylor, who has never set foot in the Upper West Region, to stake a claim to the future and direction of the NDC in the Upper West Region but forbids the Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin , who has a right to vote in the same elections?’

Nobody is saying that the Speaker is not a major stakeholder in the opposition NDC but he must play his cards well. What about you who is the National Communication Officer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) what business have you as PNC National Communication officer to talk about the NDC when your party is in tatters and you are looking on?

You know Mr Awudu Isahak for sure that it is a blatant lie when you were very categorical when you said that: ‘It must therefore be on record that the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament is not sponsoring any candidate anywhere including in the Upper West Region for any position’.

That is the mother of all lies ever told by someone who is a Communication Officer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) who would not mind his business to mend his own party but he is rather busy poking his nose into the affairs of another political party in this case the NDC just because he is acting as stooge for the Speaker of Parliament.

We will halt it here but whenever a lie is being peddled we shall come back to match you boot for boot. We will write to set the records straight to inform and indeed give accurate information as to the actual happenings on the ground in the Upper West Region. With no malice we stop here for any reaction if any!

Thank you.
