The Ahafo Regional Minister, George Yaw Boakye, has reiterated the government’s commitment to providing infrastructure in the Ahafo Region, one of the six new regions created in 2019.

He said since the inauguration of the region, people now have access to social services conveniently due to the significant development projects that are being initiated in the region.

The Minister, who was briefing the press on Wednesday in Accra on developments in the region, noted that all decentralised departments and agencies of the state have been established and fully functional.

Mr Boakye said, as result of that, the inhabitants no longer have to travel long distances to Sunyani and other places to access everyday services as hitherto was the case.

“There are ongoing works on the main Regional Co-ordinating Council Administration block in Goaso which is at an advanced stage of completion, residential accommodation for senior staff of the RCC at Goaso completed and currently being inhabited, ongoing construction of the Regional Health Directorate and Office Complex at Hwidiem, residential accommodation for Health Director and Staff at Hwidiem, which has since been completed and handed over, a Regional Education Directorate and Office Complex and a residential accommodation at Bechem have been completed and handed over,” he said.

He disclosed that the regional administration block for the National Health Insurance Authority at Mim was completed and awaiting commissioning.

“There are also ongoing works on the Municipal Office block for National Health Insurance Authority at Goaso while the construction of the District Office block for NHIA in Asutifi North has been completed in Kenyasi,” Boakye added.

He stated that the Regional Police Headquarters in Goaso was under construction and the construction of bungalows for the Regional Police Commander and the Deputy Regional Commander in Goaso was also ongoing.

Mr Boakye added that construction work on the High Court, Circuit Court, Magistrate Court Buildings and Bungalows at Goaso, Duayaw Nkwanta, Hwidiem and Kukuom was ongoing.

He mentioned the Regional Highways Office Complex, Bungalows at Duayaw-Nkwanta and offices of the Environmental Protection Agency in Goaso as some of the projects that are ongoing while the Regional Office block for the Youth Employment Agency has been completed and awaiting commissioning.
