Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Minister of Energy and Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North constituency, laments the manner and way Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is always the target of criticism for the current economic situation.

He stated that constantly seeing Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia being subjected to such criticisms makes him sad.

In a discussion on Accra-based Peace FM's Kokrokoo morning show on Wednesday, August 3, he explained that people have been put in charge of the various sectors of the economy.

He added that the sector ministers take credit when things go well.

Such people, he believes, must also be criticized and not the Vice President.

“I get sad when people blame Vice President Bawumia because the Economic Management Committee he heads is the only Committee that's called a team,” he said.

He continues “When you go to Cabinet, we have Social and Infrastructure Committee and others but when we reached the economy, we say Economic Management Team. So, we appointed experts on the team.”

Though the former Energy Minister in his assertions did not admit that the EMT had failed in managing the economy, he promised that “NPP will take Ghana out from IMF for us to get our relief.”
