The La Constance Center for Global Health has donated Prenatal Vitamins to the Legon Hospital Midwifery Department and the Gbolo Kofi Clinic near Adawso in the Eastern Region.
The presentation was made by Dr. Aniapam Boafo, a Gynecologist in New York and Founder and CEO of the Non-Profit Organization.
Dr. Boafo indicated that the maternal morbidity and mortality statistics in Ghana is high and there is a need to improve the situation.
He noted that the major causes of maternal morbidity and mortality are hemorrhage (excessive bleeding), hypertensive disorders and infections.
He indicated that the Vitamins would address particularly Hemorrhage and the wellbeing of pregnant women.
Dr. Boafo added that the Vitamins were made possible by the partnership with the Vitamin Angels Foundation of the USA.
