Vice Admiral Amoama, addressing the soldiers, admonished them to be vigilant due to the increasing terror threats in the West Africa sub-region.

“Let me urge all personnel of 3 Garrison and by extension the Ghana Armed Forces to remain vigilant and conscious of the security situation in our respective catchment areas. The nature of the contemporary threat that confronts our country requires a concerted and holistic focus by all to ensure that we prevail and surmount this challenge. Let us, therefore, be extra vigilant and observe security in and around our barracks and also at various key vulnerable points at all times.”

The Chief of Defence Staff called for collaboration among the security agencies.

“We should not forget to collaborate effectively with all security agencies in the pursuit of this objective. Let us be alive to the call by the National Security to say something when they see something.”

The Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah on his part, said there are various projects ongoing to improve the accommodation challenges of the military in the country.

“The construction of this complex was supported by the Army Headquarters and the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff. This will help to accommodate over 220 young soldiers both male and female and this is a great relief to the regiment. Over the past two years of my command, I have initiated and commissioned a number of these quick impact projects in almost all the army units across the Garrisons. This critical intervention has been triggered by the stuck and worrying reality of the inadequate and mostly poor infrastructure situation in almost all the army units. As the Central government takes steps to address the situation, the Military High Command cannot stay aloof.”
