An aspiring national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Stephen Asamoah Boateng, better known as Asabee says he will be glad to see his party handpick a flagbearer without organizing elections.

Asabee is of the view that choosing a flagbearer without elections will help strengthen the bond the NPP may need to ride over their major political rivals, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He said his strategy would be ideal for the party to defeat the NDC which is coming like a "wounded lion."

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Accra-based JoyNews 'The Probe Show' which was aired on Sunday, June 26, 2022, monitored by Modernghana News, he noted that his strategy is part of the policies he will implement with the approval of the NPP's National Executive Council (NEC of NPP) when he is finally given the nod as the party’s chairman.

According to Mr. Asamoah Boateng, he will call on all candidates in the NPP’s flagbearership contest to a hotel room and charge them to choose among themselves a flagbearer and a running mate.

"It is quite simple, I intend to take it to the National Council to be given the chance to assemble all the aspirants in a room to jaw-jaw until they get for us a flagbearer and a running mate.

'...the NDC is coming like a wounded lion, we would need more time, money, and most importantly a United front to meet them and win them decisively for them to know that Ghanaians appreciate our governance more than them," he said believing that will help them win the 2024 elections.

In furtherance of his suggestions, the national chairman hopeful stated that the NDC is always finding ways to cause NPP to split heads.

"Can you imagine how the NDC would be scared to be contesting an NPP that didn't vote to choose a flag bearer?" he quizzed.
