ASA Savings and Loans Limited has organised free medical health screening for clients and community members in and around Amanful and Tanokrom in Western Region.

The first of the two exercises was held at Amanful on June 20, 2022, before the second exercise followed on June 23, 2022.

Both health screening exercises were organised under the Business Centre in the Anaji Area.

The two health screening exercises costing a sum of GHS9,000 benefited 415 People.

During the free health screening, beneficiaries were screened for various diseases including Malaria, Hepatitis B, BP, and sugar levels. They were taken through general screening as well.

To the delight of beneficiaries, they were given medical prescriptions free of charge.

According to Mrs. Helena Gaisie who is the Head of the Medical Team that conducted the health screening, the most occurring diseases after the exercises were Malaria and Blood Pressure.

Customers who were having such problems, especially High Blood Pressure were counseled on the disease and what they can do to stabilise it.

They were counseled to cut down on eating too much sugar, salt and excessive alcohol.

They were told to do exercises, eat a good diet, consume plenty of water and have enough rest.

Some of the customers who spoke to the media thanked ASA Savings and Loans for what they described as a great initiative.

They stressed that it has helped them know their health status which they were not aware of.

They assured that they will yield to the advice given them by the medical team.

The Branch managers of both Business centres, Miss Adwoa Asantewaa and Mrs. Cynthia Naggai both said; “as part of the company's corporate social responsibility, it deems it fit to organize a health screening for clients of their Business Centres and its surroundings. Most of our clients do not check their health often and we thought it wise to organise this to help our client know their health status.”

At the end of the screenings, the Area Manager (Anaji Area) for the company, Mr. Samuel Odoom said the health screening was necessary to help their clients live stronger and healthy as has been done by the company in the past.

He urged the private sector to make a conscious effort to meet the needs rather than the wants of their stakeholders through CSR. He emphasizes that the company plan to do more in the coming days.
