MTN Ghana has committed a whopping GHS77,000 to support the Ghana Hajj Board for this year’s pilgrimage.

On Friday, June 17, 2022, officials of the leading telecommunications company in the country visited the head office of the Hajj Board at Airport, Accra to continue the annual tradition of supporting the pilgrimage.

To support the work of the Hajj Board, MTN is providing smart high-end devices valued at GHc62,000, airtime worth GHc15,000, as well as some other MTN souvenirs.

Speaking to the media after the presentation, Mobile Money Limited Senior Manager for Commercial Corporate Business Development, Abdul-Majeed Rufai noted that MTN is excited to have the chance to support the Hajj Board for this year’s special pilgrimage after the two-year break due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Once again, the Hajj season is here with us and it is our greatest pleasure, in the name of the Almighty Allah, the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful for granting our Muslim brothers the opportunity to embark on the pilgrimage to Mecca.

“In view of this, we are here on behalf of the Management and staff of MTN to extend our warmest regards and a lending hand to pilgrims who will be lodging at the hajj village whilst they wait to embark on their pilgrimage,” Abdul-Majeed Rufai told journalists.

To make this year’s pilgrimage stress-free for Ghanaian Muslims who will be making the trip, MTN has also partnered with its Roaming partners, Mobily and STC in Saudi Arabia to provide customers with Pay As You Go and Pay Monthly offers.

This is to make pilgrims enjoy and stay in touch with their family and friends whilst Roaming in Saudi Arabia.

In addition to these, MTN will set up Mobile Merchants at the Hajj Villages in Ghana and also in Saudi Arabia to provide pilgrims with access to fast, secured, and convenient money transfer services.

Officials of the Hajj Board after receiving the goodies from MTN expressed appreciation to the company, assuring that the high-end devices [Mobile phones, TurboNet, MiFi devices] and all other souvenirs will be put to good use.

MTN Ghana says it hopes its support will make this year’s Hajj journey a smooth and memorable one for all pilgrims.
