4 Deadly Lies the LGBT+ Community Tells Itself To Justify Their Unrighteous Lifestyle

Feature Article 4 Deadly Lies the LGBT+ Community Tells Itself To Justify Their Unrighteous Lifestyle
JUN 13, 2022 LISTEN

The LGBT+ community around the world is unleashing its full force to ensure their fleshly desires are totally legalized and allowed to be normal everywhere. Just days ago in Ghana a news portal, myjoyonline.com reported that the LGBT+ community in Ghana mounted huge billboards on vantage high streets to galvanise support and also celebrate what they call ‘gay pride’ in June. According to Wikipedia, “The LGBT community (also known as the LGBTQ+ community, GLBT community, gay community, or queer community) is a loosely defined grouping of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other queer individuals united by a common culture and social movements.” They are forcefully ensuring they are normalized in society.

When I was growing up (I am not that old though), you would hardly hear some behaviours being boldly justified in public. People will hide and do some things because it brings shame to themselves, their family, and the whole community. The gay community has lost every ounce of shame to marshall courage to display their unbridled sin in public. Alas, the words of Paul are being fulfilled in our very eyes when he said that God gave up unrighteous people to a depraved mind in Romans 1:26-32.

“26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”

You see, every sinner has to tell himself lies to be able to justify and continue in what he or she does. We either strengthen our lies from our own fallen hearts or from external sources. The Bible says that Eve was deceived by Satan to eat the fruit and disobey God (1 Timothy 2:14). I want us to discuss 4 lies that the LGBT community tells itself in order to comfortably continue loving their unrighteous conducts.

#1. THEY SAY WHAT THEY DO IS NATURAL

The first lie the community tells itself in their heart is that their actions are natural and it can never be changed. An LGBT community member called Joe told CNN, "I can't change the way I am. I can't change who I am. This is natural, and it is how I feel." Really? How can a man and man or a woman and a woman having carnal knowledge become natural? To say it is natural is to redefine the natural order by which God created things. God made man and woman to produce offspring of their own kind. Anywhere homosexual behaviour emerges in the Bible, God spoke against it and rained judgment on the people involved (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13). Homosexual or lesbianism is not natural. It is rather a direct effect of the fall of man which can be cured when we turn from our sin and look to Christ on the cross (Ephesians 2:1-3).

#2. THEY SAY WHAT THEY DO IS PRIVATE

A friend of mine who is in the field of human right advocacy finds himself defending the community. He said ‘what two males or two females do in private does not affect the economy of Ghana’. This argument is ‘over the bar’ because if we must concern ourselves with only the public life of people, then we will have hypocrites running every show. As a Christian what I do in private must align with what I do in public. What I do in private is as important as what I do in public. In fact, every leader of integrity will admit that his private and public lives must be in sync. God will not take this argument because when Achan in the Bible took the accursed things after the war, he did it privately without even Joshua knowing. But the effect of his disobedience was seen in their defeat before a small settlement called Ai (Read full story in Joshua 7). The LGBT community must know that in every true community, what we do in private as individuals affect others. Sin is first against God before man (Genesis 39:9). If you think no one sees you, God the creator, does. He abhors sin. He would rather like you to turn away from your deeds and cry for mercy (Luke 18:13).

#3. THEY SAY GOD LOVES THEM AS THEY ARE

I have heard some arguments advanced by some members of the LGBT community that God loves them the way they are and that their sin, so to speak, is not worse than others. In fact, they stretch it to the point that in the Western World, they have ‘gay and lesbian Christians’. I am not quite sure which Bible they read to get all these misunderstood texts to back their ungodly acts. To be sinful and proud is an abomination to the Lord. When the Bible says Christ came to save the sinners, it does not mean to accept them as sinners for them to continue in their sins. Far be it! A holy God hates sin of any kind. Even when Isaiah and Peter met face to face with the Lord on His throne and the incarnate Christ, the two people had one experience - they saw their unworthiness and God's absolute holiness (Isaiah 6 & Luke 5:8). If God loves homosexuals, why will He say that they will not enter His kingdom if they continue in their sin?

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." (I Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV)

#4. THEY SAY PEOPLE HATE THEM FOR WHO THEY ARE

Without mincing words I can say for a fact that people don't hate homosexuals. They hate to the core, the sin they so adore and want to be left alone to walk in. Satan can sweeten what is sinful and make it pleasant for the eyes like what he did with Eve in Genesis 3. In 1 Corinthians 6 (quoted above), the Bible gives us a list of people who will not make it to heaven. It mentions fornicators, idolators, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers and extortioners. These are all clear traits of unrighteous living which does not glorify God in any way. Of course, every true Christian will not single out homosexuals as the greatest of sinners. If he/she sees any of these sins, he will passionately speak against it like the way Phinehas dealt with the sin of the people before God (Number 25). The community must know that we love them as people created in the image of God but hate seeing them in their sin.

I am not sure that if armed robbers come out tomorrow to boldly advocate for legalization of their conducts, even the LGBT community will comfortably open its arms and welcome their call. Proverbs 14:34 says that righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people. God will never bless any nation that loves sin and hates righteous living. When Israel sinned against God, He sent His prophets to speak against them and call them to repentance. What the LGBT+ community needs is not forcefully pushing themselves on society. They rather need the saving grace of God to cleanse them and turn them around for His glory. We were all like them until we were saved by grace. 1 Corinthians 6:11 says that, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” There is a deeper spiritual problem with the LGBT community which only Jesus Christ can help them to deal with (Romans 1:16-17). May the Lord remove their hearts of stone and give them a softer one (Ezekiel 36:26).
