Nii Armah Ashietey donates to National Chief Imam, seek his blessings

The National Democratic Congress ( NDC) National Chairman hopeful, hon. Nii Armah Ashietey has donated some assorted food items to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh, Dr. Osumanu Nuhu Sharubutu, in Accra on Friday.

According to the Aspirant, the donation was to support Muslim fraternity through the Imam in the holy month of Ramadan and the Eidul Fitr celebration.

The items donated by the former Korle Klottey MP included bags of rice, bottles of oil and a cloth.

He said Ramadan is a month of blessings and prayers and therefore it is appropriate that he supports the Imam in order to get the blessings of the month.

He used the opportunity to officially informed the Imam about his intentions to contest for his party's National Chairman position during the next coming national primaries.

Hon. Nii Armah Ashietey said this donation wasn't his first time. He said he has been doing such donations to the Chief Imam since his time as the Mayor of Tema in the 1990s.

The former Greater Accra Regional Minister advised the youth to celebrate the occassion in peace.

He also used the opportunity to wished Dr. Nuhu Sharubutu a happy 103 birthday and asked Allah to preserve his life for a longer period for the benefit of the entire Ghanaian community.

In his response , Dr. Osuman Nuhu Sharubutu expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the former Parliamentarian for the kind gesture.He said the items presented shall be used for the purpose for which they were donated which is to feed the poor and needy during and after the holy month of Ramadan.

The National Imam prayed for Nii Armah Ashietey in his bid to become the NDC's national chairman. He urged him to lead by example and selflessly if he is given the nod as the party's chairman.

"Leadership is a devine calling and if you are chosen as the chairman, do not be rude to the people but with respect and dedication. Respect them and be ready to serve well to the satisfaction of the people".

On his part, the Public Relations officer to the Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul Latif added his voice on the need for the people especially the youth to celebrate the Eid celebrations in moderation and with caution.
