The founder and leader of the New Jerusalem Chapel located at Kumasi Sokoban Ampayoo in the Ashanti Region, Bishop Dr. John Yaw Adu has stated that the digitization agenda championed by the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best alternative to curb bribery and corruption in the country.

He said through the digitization agenda will limit human intermediaries which often resulted in long queues and unnecessary delays which often lead to bribery in transacting government business.

Making the statement on Sunday, April 17 2022 to round off the Easter festivities, the Bishop asserted that the economy of the country can be transformed if revenue loopholes are blocked.

He noted that the country is blessed with various natural resources that could satisfy the needs of its citizens, however corruption and bribery is slowing the progress of the country and denying many the national cake.

Preaching from the Book of Matthew Chapter 28 verses 1 to 15, Bishop Adu said Judas Iscariot, one of the disciples of Jesus Christ took bribe and betrayed his master, Jesus Christ.

According to him, some guards after the crucifixion of Jesus were given bribes to police the tomb of Jesus over fears that the disciples may sneak in and take away the body of Christ to justify the claim that He truly resurrect after three days of His death.

Bishop Adu noted Jesus Christ had prophesied about his death and resurrection which critics described as blasphemous to the gods of the land.

Bishop Dr J.Y.Adu hinted that the issue of bribes that led to the betrayal and death of Jesus Christ is living among people in the society.

Today, the man of God indicated that the business community pay bribes to avoid paying the right amount of taxes for national development.

He added officials demand bribes, ask female job seekers for sex before employment, inflating contract cost, insertion of ledger accounts in financial and public institutions and diverting state funds into private pockets meant for the development of the country.

In order to reverse the trend, Bishop Adu charged Ghanaians to take advantage of the death and resurrection of Christ to turn over a new leaf for God's intervention in the crisis confronting the economy.

."Through the blood of Jesus Christ all sins have been forgiven today, therefore we need to change our mindsets and come together as one people to build an effective economy," the Bishop concluded.
