The timely intervention of personnel of the Buipe Fire Command of the Ghana National Fire Service in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region prevented what could have led to total destruction of the Depot of Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Limited (BOST) at Buipe on Tuesday, January 25, 22.

A statement on the official Facebook page of the Ghana National Fire Service said a running call was received from one Miss Emelia Dadzi reporting a bush fire behind the yard of BOST at 1330 hours.

According to the statement, "the firefighting crew arrived at the fire ground at 1344 hours and brought the fire under control at 1618 hours and finally extinguished the fire at 1630 hours".

It noted that the bushfire reignited later on whiles the inspection was being conducted and the crew quickly managed to completely extinguish it at 1755 hours before leaving the scene.

"Preliminary investigations conducted revealed that the fire was attributed to a distance bush burning that spread towards the BOST yard by means of strong hot harmattan winds. The fire spread was aided by the dry bushes surrounding the BOST yard," the statement noted.

It also revealed that no casualty was recorded.

It added that investigations however continues to get the perpetrators of the indiscriminate act and punish them accordingly.
