JAN 23, 2022 LISTEN

The parable of the sod cutter is an allegory about the welfare of the common people. The story which involves the cutter, the spade, and the ground-earth, can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning.

Behold, a sod cutter went out to cut sods and he was able to cut several sods, including, the construction work of Ghana Award House, the construction of phase 1 of the Law Village, sod for African Games 2023 complex, sod for 100-Bed Obuasi Trauma & Accident Hospital.

The sod cutter went further with his sod-cutting plans, such as sod for construction Of 111 Hospitals; sod for 20 houses for appeal court judges, sod for €70 Million Eastern Regional Hospital, sod for UHAS China-aided expansion, sod for the reconstruction of €95m Tarkwa-Agona-Nkwanta road, etc.

The sod cutting is too numerous to count, in fact, the sod cutter has cut sods than any cutter in the welfare history of mankind and always people around him gave him applause but after five years in power, it is sad to note that none of the projects in which sods were cut is available today.

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few find it. Matthew 7:13-14

The Pharisee named Gamaliel said, "Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing." That is the reality.

In life, it is very easy to deceive people and have a lot of followers because most people believe in lies than the truth.

Easily deceived people find everything that glitters is gold. After years of pursuing, they quickly realized the substance is neither gold nor silver but a piece of iron.

Mahatma Gandhi
The sod cutter hasn’t finished deceiving people, he still makes headlines with new sod cuttings, and each time, he has people behind him, which reveals that power corrupts the mind and at the same time, it is a force that can lead people to embarrassment and disgrace.

In this parable, the sod cutter symbolizes the deceiver and one who lacks vision. His lying instrument in his hand is the spade, taking the sand but nothing profitable comes from it, while the earth-ground, represents God’s gift to mankind to cultivate, without first planting treasures in it.

Does it make sense to mankind, despite the gold, bauxite, diamond, timber, cocoa, the rest of the precious metals and fruits that come from the earth, yet, the son of man is still suffering because of the greed of others?

It is better to be a pagan than to use God’s name as a Christian to deceive people. In such circumstances, your life will be similar to someone fetching water with a bucket full of holes. You’ll achieve nothing.

We have seen it today, nobody can deny it, that after five years in power, the common people have seen what is chronic corruption, incompetence, a high rate of unemployment, and crime, amidst suffering, despite what God has provided in our grounds to make life easier and comfortable.
