The Presidency is not a teenage political personality contest, so daring Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to affirm that he is not corrupt, such as the corruption-baptizing John Agyekum-Kufuor nephew, the so-called Mr. Blessed Godsbrain Smart, is reported to have done constitutes the inexcusable height of blasphemy and characteristic arrogance (See “ ‘You Are Corrupt, Deny It’ – Captain Smart Dares Akufo-Addo” Ghanaweb.com 11/9/21). It is blasphemous and criminally disrespectful of Nana Akufo-Addo because if he had been paying sedulous attention to the pronouncements of his very own uncle, that is, former President John “Kofi Diawuo” Agyekum-Kufuor, the man who ruled Ghana from 2001 to 2009, Captain “Swine” would have heard the Manhyia Palace denizen smugly assert with a smirk that “Corruption has been with humanity since the Golden Age of Adam and Eve.”
Now, if the preceding quote is correctly attributed, then it goes without saying that Captain “Swine,” host of Onua TV’s talk-show program “Maakye” or Good Morning, Brothers and Sisters’ political junk-talk, is merely luridly engaged in political masturbation of the kind that is commonly associated with the notorious program host and one that is obviously a morbid attempt to reduce the integrity of the key players of the Akufo-Addo Administration to the indescribably corrupt level of the topmost leader of the defunct Agyekum-Kufuor government. Our simple logical response to Captain Swine here is that unless he could convincingly contradict his own Uncle Kofi Diawuo’s rather smug and morally and politically irresponsible assertion that corruption is innately or incurably natural to humans, then it goes without saying that his open and disingenuous daring of Nana Akufo-Addo to prove that Mr. Kufuor’s former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice is devoid of the very human trait of corruption is one that scandalously and rather belatedly attempts to scapegoat the politically progressive and visionary grandson of The Original Osagyefo, Nana Sir Ofori-Atta, I, of Akyem-Abuakwa, as a cynical means of indemnifying the Captain Swine kinsman who made political or official corruption the very cornerstone of his government.
What the foregoing means, of course, is that if corruption has been “authoritatively” affirmed to be perfectly natural to global humanity, then, of course, it is simply farcical for any critic to expect Nana Akufo-Addo to be the singular or unique exception to this inescapable law of human fallibility or foibles. The stark fact of the matter is that Nana Akufo-Addo cannot quixotically prove the substance or the veracity of a question or riddle whose answer has already been predetermined, by claiming decidedly redundantly that, somehow, he is the unique exception to a “scientifically” established Kufuor Law that holds that political perfection only exists in the realm of the cosmically superhuman.
But perhaps what is most significant to critically observe here is the fact that in the implicit opinion and conviction – that is, hypothetically assuming that, indeed, Captain Swine has any remarkable modicum of convictions – of the Onua-TV current affairs program host, Nana Akufo-Addo stands in a class all by himself when it comes to assessing the political performance caliber of the former New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for Akyem-Abuakwa-South. It is a challenge that is chockfull of envy and jealousy because it has been incontestably established that Mr. Agyekum-Kufuor’s former Foreign Affairs Minister and former Minister for ECOWAS Integration is also the best democratically elected President of Ghana’s Fourth Republic. It also goes without saying that whatever may be credibly deemed to be left of Mr. Kufuor’s legacy is one that was either resuscitated or conscientiously promoted as such by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, such as the John “European Airbus Payola” Dramani Mahama-botched National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the School-Feeding Program and several others that yours truly cannot readily recall at this time.
But, of course, the real irony here is that as lame-duck President, the last person on Nana Kofi Diawuo’s list of prime candidates for succession to the Agyekum-Kufuor Presidency is the popularly elected “deliberately delayed successor,” in the authoritative words of Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (aka Captain Wontumi), the Asante Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, who has unarguably done more than any other leader to both preserve and promote the iconic memory of the man who is commonly known to have worked indefatigably and around the clock, as it were, to ensure that Nana “Kofi Addo,” as my Guinean friends are wont to call him, never got listed and/or recognized among the heroes of the Pantheon of our National Titans.
Now, talking about the “Gods of Kyebi,” maybe Mr. God’s Swine needs to do more serious research before effusively injecting such rhetorical swill into his anti-Akufo-Addo tirades. The fact of the matter is that the chiefs and people of the ancient royal capital of Okyeman and Akyem-Abuakwa are far more enlightened and civilized than Mr. God’s Swine is clearly willing to allow by his grievously derelict and decadent judgment.
