
THE President, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, has approved the reconstituted Board of the National Commission on Women and Development.
The board is chaired by Dr. Charlotte Abaka.
A statement signed by Mr J. l. M. Amissah, Secretary to the President and issued in Accra yesterday, named other members of the Board as Mamaga Amega Kofi Bra I, Queenmother of Peki, Mrs Edna Fordjour, retired Principal of the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI), Mrs Angelina Dormakyerah, Deputy Commissioner of Human Rights and Administrative Justice and Mrs Gloria Dwamena Aboagye, an Accra-based legal practitioner.
The others are Mrs Mary Dagadu; Dr. Naana Agyeman-Mensah of the Hunger Project, an (NGO); Ms Sarah Akrofi Quarcoo, media representative; Mr Robert Tengey, a private consultant and Mrs Esther Aperwokin of the National Population Council (NPC).
The statement named the rest as Mr J. E. Aggrey, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Philomena Johnson, National Development and Planning Commission (NDPC) and Mrs Clara Korkor Fayorsey-Mante, lecturer of the Sociology Department of the University of Ghana.
It said two representatives of Parliament and a representative each of the committee of Affirmative Action (Office of the President) and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture are also to serve on the board.
The statement conveyed the President’s appreciation and gratitude to members of the erstwhile board on behalf of the nation, for their dedication and selfless service.
