Foreigners found prying in the political activities of the country will be made to face the law, Mr W.K. Aboah, Director of Immigration warned on Wednesday.
"We have been reliably informed that some foreigners who have been granted permits to reside in this country are surreptitiously prying in political activities contrary to conditions of their permits," Mr Aboah told the seventh Regional Commanders of Immigration conference in Accra. He said no country will accept such behaviours of foreigners and Ghana is no exception.
"Any foreigner found indulging in such perfidious intrigues will not be spared the rod of the law," Mr Aboah, who is also the Commissioner of Police (CID), said.
He told the regional commanders that they have to enforce the laws and regulations on entry, departure and residence of foreigners.
Mr Aboah asked workers of the Immigration Service Department to be committed to their work and not to cast doubt on their professional integrity and neutrality.
He reminded them that they would join their counterparts of other security agencies at the pooling stations during next week's elections.
"It is important to remind you of the need to advise officers and ranks serving under you to refrain from unguarded utterances on political matters."
Mr Aboah said they have since the Gateway Project was initiated, modernised their operations.
They are also developing a management information system to upgrade their decision-making and deliver business more efficiently and quickly.
