The Abeka branch of ASA Savings and Loans Ltd has awarded scholarships to some children of 10 lucky clients as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The award of scholarship was presented to the school children in the presence of their mothers on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

Speaking to the 10 lucky clients of ASA Savings and Loans Ltd whose kids are benefiting from the scholarship award, Mrs. Zalia Alhassan who is the Area Manager for the financial institution urged them to put the money to good use.

“What we are giving you is money but it’s not money. We have done this today and we will be doing it elsewhere as well.

“Kindly take this and be grateful you are one of the lucky ones selected for this scholarship award. We plead with you to use this money for something useful that will help your children,” Mrs. Zalia Alhassan said.

Doris Forson, one of the beneficiaries who spoke to Modernghana News after the presentation of the scholarship extended profound appreciation to ASA Savings and Loans Ltd for the kind gesture.

“God bless you all at ASA. I was only called by my child yesterday from school asking for money. This will help me a lot and I’m very grateful for ASA for the continuous support,” she said.

On her part, Branch Manager of ASA Savings and Loans Ltd at the Abeka Business Centre, Harriet Quaye explained the motive behind giving out the scholarships.

She said, “We just gave some of our clients [10 of them] scholarships for their kids to support their education as a corporate social responsibility.

“It is just to help our clients support their kids with their education. We have been doing it all the time.”

In the past, similar gestures have been undertaken by ASA Savings and Loans Ltd in addition to activities such as free health screening, breast cancer awareness programmes, and some other activities.

A similar gesture will be extended to the Awoshie branch of ASA Savings and Loans Ltd on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.
