Ofosu-Kwakye Is a Political Fraud Like Boss Mahama
18.10.2021 LISTEN

The decision by the executive operatives of the National Communications Authority (NCA) to rescind its legitimate closure of some 133 radio stations across the length and breadth of the country ought to come as very welcome news, contrary to what cynical political charlatans like Mr. Felix Ofosu-Kwakye or Kwakye-Ofosu, the former Mahama-appointed Deputy Communications Minister, would have the rest of the general Ghanaian public believe (See “ ‘Akufo-Addo Deserves No Applause for Restoring Radio Gold, XYZ Licenses – Kwakye Ofosu” Ghanaweb.com 10/14/21). Those of you regular readers of my columns on the website of the Modern Ghana media portal are well aware of the dozens of articles that I wrote and published admonishing the Akufo-Addo Administration to expeditiously work out a legally acceptable settlement with the affected radio stations, largely having to do with the nonpayment of taxes and the breaching of other rules and regulations governing the operation of the electronic media in the country.

In the main, I literally went to bat for Radio Gold, widely known and regarded as the flagship or foremost radio station of the country’s main opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in principle and in salutary furtherance of democratic free marketing of ideas. Thus, it is nothing short of scandalous for Mr. Ofosu-Kwakye, the notorious Mahama gofer and leashed robotic poodle, to be cavalierly pooh-poohing this most laudable gesture entailing, admittedly, the long overdue restoration of the licenses of Radio Gold, Montie, XYZ and all the other affected privately owned and operated national and local community radio stations. The least that Mr. Ofosu-Kwakye could have done in the wake of this most progressive and kindly and healthy gesture of the Akufo-Addo Administration, if he had nothing meaningful or sensible to add to the ongoing national discourse on free speech and media freedom, would have been for the former Communications Ministry second bananas to simply shut his oversized mouth up.

But, of course, that would not be in keeping with the obnoxious and vacuously garrulous character of the man who was literally caught with his pants down in the bedroom of a traditionally married woman of a hardworking Ghanaian husband or fiancé domiciled abroad in the leadup to the 2020 General Election. What was even more shameful was the fact that the Mahama flunkey was also widely alleged to have been using the address of his adulterous paramour as his private residential address, in a characteristically shameless bid to cannibalizing the parliamentary seat of a constituency in which he was not known to be a significant quantity or denizen. I suspect it was somewhere in the Asebu-Kwaaman Constituency of the Central Region. That is what the carpetbagging NDC hustlers and taxpayer muggers are known to do much better than their main political opponents. What is equally significant to highlight to highlight here is the fact that, on the whole, the Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has a far better track-record when it comes to the treatment of media operatives in the country than the ironically named National Democratic Congress.

Mr. Ofosu-Kwakye would do himself and the rest of us an instructive favor by telling us why his boss and paymaster, that is, former President John Dramani Mahama, came to be tagged as “The Shit-Bomber,” while the latter served as both Deputy and Substantive Communications Minister in the government of the late President Jeremiah John Rawlings, the acclaimed Founding-Father of the National Democratic Congress. Indeed, it is not for absolutely nothing that those who live in glasshouses have been sternly counseled against the suicidal urge or temptation of “Throwing Stones.” I would even venture one step further to admonish the Mahama lackey and their straw-hut residential neighbors to be extremely careful not to play with matchsticks. It is also nothing short of patently absurd for Mr. Ofosu-Kwakye to suppose for even a nanosecond that his decidedly amateurish two-by-four “experience” as a Deputy Mahama Communications Minister is qualitatively comparable to that of any ministerial deputy in the Akufo-Addo Administration.

You see, there are far better ways of insulting the intelligence of the operatives of the Joe Anokye-headed National Communications Authority than disdainfully and cavalierly presuming the NCA administrators to be facilely and robotically taking their daily marching orders from Jubilee House or, specifically, from President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia. Now, how many times do I have to counsel this mediocre Mahama tout about the fact that Mr. Ofosu-Kwakye has absolutely no professional peers or classmates among the key operatives of the Akufo-Addo Presidency and the first-rate cabinet appointees and operatives of the latter establishment?
