Ledzokuku: We'll go after cheap tribal bigots 'NDC' Assemblymembers, sheepish NPP gurus for causing rejection of President's nominee — Group
16.10.2021 LISTEN

A group calling itself Concerned Unit Committee Members of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly have warned they will soon go after some persons they have described as “tribal bigots” and “political demigods” in the area.

According to them, this group of persons were behind the votes against the President’s MCE nominee for Ledzokuku, Mordecai Quarshie.

The group, in collaboration with the Teshie Youth for development, were appalled by claims that the President's nominee is not from the Ga tribe. “Are Gas going to be separated from no-Gas during voting?”

The group alleged that some Assembly Members who are affiliated with the main opposition met their "godfathers" and were told not to vote for the nominee.

They added that some NPP bigwigs also secretly “paid losing bonuses” to other Assembly Members.

“…we wish to take this opportunity to remind all NDC affiliated Assembly Members that the mandate they carry as assembly members emanated from their respective electorates and not some self-seeking political demigods. Their meetings with their godfathers at locations within Tsuibleoo and Agblisaa are well-known to us and most of our community members.

“They voted to please their godfathers forgetting the poor electorates who queued to vote them into office, the development of our community and above all their conscience. The losing bonus they collected would forever remain a stain on their conscience.

“To those disappointed unpatriotic NPP big wigs who are sheepishly working clandestinely behind the scenes to sabotage the choice of His Excellency the President, we would soon come after you. We shall name and shame you,” the group warned sternly."

In a statement signed by its spokespersons, Michael Amarh Ashidam and Albert Adjei, and released on Friday, the group noted that “the position of Municipal Chief Executive is not a chieftaincy title. It is a creation of an Act of Parliament and therefore persons willing to occupy that position must meet the requirements of the law.

“For the avoidance of doubt those legal requirements do not include the tribal or ethnic inclinations of candidates nominated for the position."

CONCERNED UNIT COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF THE LEDZOKUKU MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY IN COLLABORATION WITH TESHIE YOUTH FOR DEVELOPMENT.

JOINT PRESS STATEMENT.

“HE WHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS BEST”- the bigots must take note.

Good morning distinguished ladies and gentlemen of the media. On behalf of the good people of Teshie, I welcome you all to this all-important press conference. We are grateful for your continuous coverage of activities and programs in Teshie with the view to highlight the developmental needs of our people.

We have invited you here this afternoon to formally react to the reckless decision of our Assembly Members last Wednesday, 6th October, 2021 at the Assembly hall of the Municipal Assembly during the confirmation vote of His Excellency the President’s nominee for Municipal Chief Executive.

As you may be aware, last Wednesday, some Assembly Members belonging to the NDC voted against the nominee for no good reason. Chiefly amongst their cock and bull story given as reason was the fact that the nominee is not an indigene and not a Ga too. The question is, are Gas separated from non-Gas during voting? If the bigots care to know, at Amansie West, one Hon Ollenu has been confirmed by able assembly members as District Chief Executive.

As community members who have the development of the town at heart, we were shocked and highly disappointed when the unfortunate news about the NO vote broke. Although we have been aware of the machinations of the TRIBAL BIGOTS and their appendages in politically coloured fugu, we overestimated the intelligence of some of our Assembly Members only for them to sell themselves so cheap. So cheap that they could not tell the difference between their left and right hands.

Ladies and gentlemen, we wish to take this opportunity to remind all NDC affiliated Assembly Members that the mandate they carry as assembly members emanated from their respective electorates and not some self-seeking political demigods. Their meetings with their godfathers at locations within Tsuibleoo and Agblisaa are well-known to us and most of our community members. They voted to please their godfathers forgetting the poor electorates who queued to vote them into office, the development of our community and above all their conscience. The losing bonus they collected would forever remain a stain on their conscience.

To those disappointed unpatriotic NPP big wigs who are sheepishly working clandestinely behind the scenes to sabotage the choice of His Excellency the President, we would soon come after you. We shall name and shame you.

How on earth would an assembly member in his or her right frame of mind say he/she voted against the nominee because some NDC leaders were in the assembly hall watching them? Is such a person not under the influence of witchcraft?

Ladies and gentlemen, is it not astonishing to note that persons who are what they are today because of the fact that they were privileged to have held political offices in the past, persons who have largely benefited from the sweat and toils of the good people of Teshie and Ghanaians in general are the same persons working tirelessly to retard our progress? The least we expect from such persons is cooperation with His Excellency the President and his appointees to push forward the developmental agenda of Teshie.

The position of Municipal Chief Executive is not a chieftaincy title. It is a creation of an Act of Parliament and therefore persons willing to occupy that position must meet the requirements of the law. For the avoidance of doubt those legal requirements do not include the tribal or ethnic inclinations of candidates nominated for the position.

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, once again, is it not outrageously laughable, bizarre and an outright stupidity for Assembly Members who themselves are not indigenes, not Gas and cannot speak Ga to have claimed that they voted against the nominee because he (the nominee) is not a Ga? A classic case of “the pot calling the kettle black”. These assembly members have completely lost their identities and therefore unfit to bear the title honourable. They are dishonourable bootlicking political zombies whose misadventure shall be recorded in an obscure place in the history of LeKMA.

THE MAN MORDECAI QUARSHIE.

Mordecai Quarshie is a holder of an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), a chartered Marketer from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Ghana.

He has over twenty-five (25) years of work experience. He has worked with several organizations across the African continent.

He is an astute grassroots politician who clearly understands the developmental needs of our people and has the needed capacity to shoulder the Municipal Assembly to greater heights.

Information has it that he stood tall among his peers at the vetting hence his nomination.

Which of us, were LeKMA to be our family property/business, in choosing an executive to manage it, would not have chosen Mordecai Quarshie from the available list of applicants?

Mordecai Quarshie is not connected in any way to any of the chieftaincy factions and also not connected to any clan or family in Teshie. This makes him the most suitable candidate for the position of MCE of LeKMA at this critical time. He is the man at the right place at the right time who would lead our forward march toward rapid development.

He would be able to freely investigate all cases of alleged malfeasance which had been rumored to have taken place at LeKMA over the past years to bring those who would be found culpable to book.

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, through your various media outlets, we wish to serve notice to the tribal bigots that we are, from here, sending our petition for the re-nomination of Mordecai Quarshie to the office of His Excellency the President of the Republic.

We at this juncture wish to encourage the tribal bigots to continue to jubilate all they want for we take solace in the adage “HE WHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS BEST”.

THANK YOU.
