A Communication Team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Archibald Gyasi has expressed disappointment in the group of professors and lawyers who are kicking gainst the anti-gay bill currently before Parliament.

Dr. Gyasi who used some unprintable words on the group led by Lawyer Akoto Ampaw said “these people are over 70, 80 years and about to die, but have gone for money from some people to come and promote gay here.”

Dr. Gyasi who was the Coordinator of a pro-NPP group, Aspirants Unite in Ashanti claims Lawyer Akoto Ampaw and his 17 members have disrespected the President's position on the LGBTQI matter.

Speaking to Daakyehene Senior of Kumasi based Adehyie FM on Thursday, Dr. Gyasi noted that Lawyer Ampaw should have taken into consideration the repercussions of his decision on the New Patriotic Party he defended in the 2020 election petition case at the Supreme Court.

“I held him in high esteem but lost respect for him the very moment I heard him make those remarks in favor of the LGBTQ+ grouping.
“If we don’t speak against certain things but politicize it just because we belong to same party it will affect us in the future. In future, we will bear the brunt of these… I have little children, my children are young so if we are leaving any legacy behind in terms of culture it should be something they can be proud of,” he stated angrily.

Describing the attempt by the Lawyer Ampaw and group to stop the bill from being passed as "nonsense."

He rallied Ghanaians to think of the generation yet unborn and stand up against anyone who would want to push LGBTQ+ down their throat, adding that the human rights campaigners should dare go to the Arab countries with their mentality.

Dr. Gyasi adds up to the millions of Ghanaians who have strongly backed the passage of the anti-LGBTQI Bill into law.

The bill known as Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021 was presented to Parliament on August 2.

The bill which has gone through the first reading is expected to go through the second before passage when Parliament reconvenes this month.
