The family of Josephine Panyin Mensah, the woman at the centre of the alleged fake kidnapping and pregnancy case in Takoradi are yet to meet the GHS50,000 bail requirement set by Court.

The woman who is now a suspect in the kidnapping conspiracy was arraigned at the Takoradi Habour Circuit Court A on Monday, September 27, 2021.

Charged with deceiving a public officer and causing fear and panic, Josephine Panyin Mensah pleaded not guilty to the shock of many Ghanaians who have been following the story.

Subsequently in Court, her counsel managed to convince the presiding judge, His Honour Michael Cudjoe Ampadu to grant her a bail of GHS50,000 with two sureties.

Unable to satisfy the terms of the bail, the woman had to spend last night in police custody.

According to Lawyer Philip Fiifi Buckman who is the Lead counsel for Josephine Panyin Mensah, the family will push to satisfy the bail conditions of his client today.

“I attended to some other cases but from my checks from the police station, the family couldn’t meet the justification today [Monday, September 27, 2021] and I believe tomorrow [September 28, 2021] God willing we should be able to meet the conditions and take her home,” Lawyer Philip Fiifi Buckman told Citi FM on Monday evening.

Josephine Panyin Mensah will reappear in Court on October 14, 2021.
