Whatever Goes Around Comes Around, Afterall
27.09.2021 LISTEN

I will not go out of my way to Google it for accuracy and/or confirmation but, if memory serves me accurately, not very long ago, Mr. Stephen Atubiga was running around the country viciously and savagely, as well as cynically and recklessly and criminally attempting to sabotage the boardinghouse component of President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s landmark and unprecedented Fee-Free Senior High School Policy Initiative or, properly speaking, “System,” because this electioneering campaign promise has been in full operation with resonant success for some three or four years now. Back then, as I vividly recall, the man who has now reportedly and officially written to President Akufo-Addo, the Minister of the Interior, the Inspector-General of the Ghana Police Service (IGP), among several other prominent national security officials and operatives in the country, for protection was busy rallying Senior High School Students around the country, in particular students in the northern half of the country, to rise up against this most auspicious and progressive academic, professional, cultural and national development program.

And then, predictably, as fate would have it, Mr. Atubiga had a falling out with the topmost leadership of the former President John “Akonfem-Kanazoe” Dramani Mahama-led Ghana-Taliban political establishment, better known as the late Chairman Jerry John Rawlings-founded juggernaut of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). That the latter faux-socialist political establishment is a striking replica or Xerox copy of the Afghanistan-based primitive theocratic organization can scarcely be gainsaid. From their nation-wrecking deindustrialization of Ghana via the total liquidation of the Kwame Nkrumah-established Ghana Industrial Holdings Corporation (GIHOC), the leadership of the National Democratic Congress have employed every imaginable means to nihilistically reduce postcolonial Ghana to the patently anachronistic and hideous status of a Pre-Historic or Paleolithic or Stone-Age nation, including the horrific decision to systematically and criminally run down the quality and functional relevance of the country’s public education system in such a reprehensible manner that about 8 years ago, the Paris-based and United Nations-sponsored Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the globally renowned and respected policy think-tank, ranked Ghana’s public school system as the very worst among some 145 countries surveyed around the world.

This is what the leadership of the National Democratic Congress does best and has been doing for more than 20 years when it has wielded the reins of governance, both forcibly and popularly or democratically. Well, now having fallen out with the leadership of the National Democratic Congress, ostensibly on account of his exhibition of gross disdain for Prof. Joshua Alabi, the well-known former President of the Madina-, Accra, based University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), if memory serves yours truly accurately, as well as a couple of other prominent front-row members of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Atubiga was promptly declared a persona non grata by the members of the NDC’s so-called Functional Executive Committee (FEC), almost wholly composed of Mr. Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, the dynastic General-Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, and almost immediately slapped with the heavy-handed punishment of indefinite suspension from the party. The target of discipline would promptly declare his resignation from the NDC and found his own political party, by the name of the National Liberation Congress (NLC). On the latter count must also be recalled that until his summary and indefinite suspension and recent resignation from the NDC, Mr. Atubiga was a senior member of National Democratic Congress’ Communication Team.

In May this year, Mr. Atubiga held a press conference and vowed before the nation that the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress could never win the 2024 General Election, or the one immediately thereafter, primarily because, according to a visibly livid Mr. Atubiga, the party simply lacked a creative, progressive, disciplined and competent leadership. He also accused some party leaders of being pathologically vindictive (See “NDC Will Never Win the 2024 Elections – Stephen Atubiga” HotFMGhana.com / Ghanaweb.com 5/28/21). His apparent ability to staunchly back up his vow with action, by the formation of his NDC vote-hemorrhaging National Liberation Congress, is clearly being seen by his former fellow Mahama shills and party foot-soldiers and truckers as a veritable threat that must be nipped in the bud, as the cliché goes, before his predicted fate for the NDC becomes practically irreversible, in the glaring absence of an Afari-Gyan Magic a la a Nana Konadu disqualification.

Which may very well be what has precipitated the widely alleged designs on his life by the Mahama Posse who, hell-bent on being returned to Jubilee House in January 2025, come hell or highwater, may presumably be targeting Mr. Atubiga, now perceived to be a formidable stumbling block, of Atta-Millsian proportions, between Comrade Kwame Gonja and Jubilee House, and thus the immediate and indispensable need to permanently clear him out of the way. Well, as the old Law-of-Retribution adage goes: “Whatever goes around also comes around.”
