2021 PHC provisional results to be released on Wednesday

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) will release the provisional results of the 2021 Population and Housing Census (2021 PHC) on Wednesday 22nd September 2021 at I0am, according to Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

A statement signed by the Minister and released on Monday said the release of the report is an important milestone in the 2021 PHC dissemination strategy that aims to promote wide usage of census data for research, policy and planning and share lessons learned from the implementation process with national and international partners.

The 2021 PHC is Ghana's first fully digital census and the first census in an African country to be conducted successfully during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The statement said the provisional results highlight findings from the 2021 PHC Preliminary Report which focuses on population size and sex composition, population density, and structures by region.

STATEMENT ON THE RELEASE OF THE 2021 POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS PROVISIONAL RESULTS

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) will release the provisional results of the 2021 Population and Housing Census (2021 PHC) on Wednesday 22nd September 2021 at I()am. The release of the report is an important milestone in the 2021 PHC dissemination strategy that aims to promote wide usage of census data for research, policy and planning and share lessons learned from the implementation process with national and international partners.

A census is a priority development activity that will generate updated demographic, economic and housing data to guide policy and planning and monitor progress towards development goals including the Coordinated Programme of Economic and Social Development Policies, Africa's Agenda 2063, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Further, the 2021 PHC is Ghana's first fully digital census and the first census in an African country to be conducted successfully during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The provisional results highlight findings from the 2021 PHC Preliminary Report which focuses on population size and sex composition, population density, and structures by region.

The Preliminary Report, which is the first of several census data products to be released over the next two years. To learn more about the upcoming releases, download the 2021 PHC Product Release Calendar from the census website (WAVvv.census2021 .statsghana. gov.gh).

The results release is a major matter of national interest, and we encourage the media, ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs); Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies; and all other stakeholders to participate.

The release will be held at the Bediako Conference Hall, GNAT Secretariat (Teacher's Hall) in Accra. The underlisted options to virtually join the results release are also available:
