The Ghana Council of Georgia last Saturday Aug 14th held its annual Ghana Fest Picnic at the Pinkneyville Park in Norcross, Georgia. This annual event is participated by all the various traditional groups, academic and professional associations as well as Ghanaian owned businesses in the State of Georgia.

This celebration of displaying Ghanaian culture to the world was very well attended by people of all walks of life.

The event which started with prayers from Christians, Moslems and Traditionalists was then followed by Parade of Traditional chiefs and queen mothers from the various ethnic groups in Ghana.

One special guest, Mrs. Elaine Amankwah Nietmann, Esq. used the occasion to announce her candidacy for the office of the Gwinnett County Judge. ‘As your judge, I will serve with justice and compassion to implement educative and rehabilitative programs to keep our communities safe’. She said.

Attendees were treated to good music with free food from all parts of Ghana. ‘I have never seen such a big free cookout in my entire adult life’, said one African-American lady.

Atlanta Ghana Fest 2021 was proudly sponsored by: WillVan Tax and Insurance, Strong Tower Realty (STR), Ole Mexican Foods and, and American Family Insurance.

The President of the Ghana Council of Georgia Yvonne McCowin, in her closing remarks thanked all members of the Ghana Council of Georgia, the GhanaFest Planning Committee and all sponsors for a job well done. She concluded, “thanks to all our guests who showed up, our sponsors, our vendors, our MC’s, and our affiliate organizations who participated to make Ghana Fest a huge success!”
